I have to say that even though I like Kate Mulgrew she is awesome. I love Mary McDonnell and she is even more awesome and to me, she is a better actress than Kate Mulgrew because A. Mary has been in the business longer than Kate has, and B Mary is older than Kate by a few years. And with age comes experiences. Even with gray hair Mary McDonnell is still a knockout and beautiful.

Lea is wonderful, as usual. But I can't deal with the screen behind her and the shots of the audience.

the mistake was pairing chakotay with seven. leaving janeway and chakotay a mystery is fine. she is absolutely right that it would have been perceived wrong by the critics if the captain had slept with a crew member. a double standard but still one that existed. i think now that janeway bit the bullet, if they have another female capt, she can do whatever she wants. times have changed. kate mulgrew set a great standard for a star trek captain.

I get what she is saying, but I still think it could have been handled better at the end of the show. They could have at least implied a romantic relationship for these two in the future.

find this a bit hard to beleive when everyone knew back in the day that Berman and Braga had a hate-on for all the J/C shippers and she was very for the ship at first then later changed her tune. eyerolling at the having to appeal to the young male demographic, though I'm sure the execs shoved that down her throat. the actual biggest demographic was women back then.

As one who uses the VA, you really don't want a "public option" single payer system. What we want is tort reform. What we can use is public health clinics staffed by folks who live in the area who have been trained. Fund vocational education, nursing programs, medical school for the young ppl who live in blighted neighborhoods. Then require a "payback" period depending on length of training. After the payback period, they may seek employment on the open market. This will improve overall out comes by being sensitive to the needs of the ppl living in a given area since the providers come fm the same area. It also increases the pool of trained professionals.

The only thing... ONLY thing I dislike about this whole series... is the fact that Janeway and Chakotay did not get together when they got home... I mean, all that build up, for 7 years, and then they didn't put them together! They didn't give the fans the Happy ending! </3 It's heartbreaking.

Janeway was simply a very strong and dutiful character. To start a relationship with Chakotay in the series 2 episode where they are stranded on the planet for the rest of their lifes would have been reasonable but I respect Kate Mulgrews dislike of that idea for the reasons she stated. Yet after the rescue it would have added much spice to a follow up episode where they would have struggled between her feelings towards chakotay on that planet and incredibly strong sense of duty as a captain not to start intimate relationships with other crewmembers for the sake of her authority as well as her everylasting hope to see her husband again, despite all odds. Interestingly the captains always have to bear a life without any warmth (well exept kirk obviously xD) while the first officers usually have the privilege of romances (chakotay & ryker) through whole seasons without having to waste a thought about a possible lack of authority due to it.

No, not because of that episode, but because Tom and Janeway are so much alike, have so much in common: same background, both funny, witty, liking adventure and taking risks, with a huge heart hidden under a sexy exterior and a nonchalant attitude. Wile Chakotay has nothing in common with Janeway

You meant she slept with Tom when she and him was changed into some salamander-like whatever? Do that even count? Admittedly, Beltram was a bit wooden but I like his scenes with Mulgrew. The two perfectly conveyed that unrequited mutual attraction more effectively and believable than Kirk/Rand on TOS. The finale of him ending up with Seven was such a slap in the face...discarding his and Mulgrew's brilliant performances.

So Mulgrew is glad Janeway didn't sleep with Chakotay, but she likes the fact that she slept with Tom. I sooooooo agree. Janeway/Tom would be such a great couple: the best in all Star Trek
