cmon, enough is enough with the conspiracy theories. There is simply NO WAY given the unknown path/timing/speed of car that some evil syndicate set up this crash. It was simply a tragedy which happens quite frequently: Vehicle speeding drunk driving, loss of control of vehicle, lack of guardrail in front of the bridge support posts (and there still aren't any!) lack of use of seatbelts. Sad tragedy but personal opinions cannot, do not and will not replace thorough scientific investigation and crash reconstruction. And the conclusions of that, from our investigation 25+ years ago is the items listed above. Please stop posting up gibberish.
Tree #1: "Hey man. There's a car goin' really darn fast that's coming at you." Tree #2: "Hold my beer."

Cool software to show all the different views weird that the trucks skidded left instead of right.
Noone thought having pillars like that in the middle of the roadway with no protection wouldnt be problematic?
In the US the lawyers would have sued whomever was in charge and their would be a barrier to redirect errant vehicles In France they still have nothing in front of those pillars But of course no other tragedies there so guess they dont feel a need For more info see www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1304

Was EDR data used? Are the seatbelt status and velocities confirmed by it?
This was back in 1997 when EDR data was not available. The crash reconstruction was based on trajectory analysis (pre and post tire marks and a damage analysis (offset crash tests). We then tested and refined the speeds and crash environment by creating the msmac3D crash simulation program which was a combination of the SMAC and HVOSM simulation programs. Looks Pretty Deadly
Man this part of Rangsit Canals looked completely different now. You would have to drive at least an hour east of this location just to get this look nowadays. It's now filled with house projects and golf courses. How much speed he was going for that jump to work again? Crazy that it just one take and stunt worked perfectly.
speed required was 40 MPH +- 1 MPH see www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=42
In my opinion, the royals murdered Diana, with the help of the intelligence services.
You are entitled to your opinion However The facts simply don’t support anything but high speed, drunk driver, not wearing seatbelts, and no protective devices in front of bridge pillars See www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1304

that mercedes had a very dodgy past and that night it was the only one available.
I've heard comments related to that, however, can you provide a legitimate news source which documents the 'dodgy past'. And the loss of control of the vehicle was due to excess speed for the downward left turn slope into the tunnel as the driver clipped the mysterious Uno and then in trying to recover overcorrected, lost contol and crashed into post#13. The car was a major problem...it had been in a major rollover crash and was almost completely rebuilt. The car was known to behave erratically and drivers did not think it was right. Her driver was probably drunk, Princess Diana was not wearing a seatbelt...she was also sitting in the seat where the least forces acted during the rapid deceleration of impact and the subsequent rotation across the two lanes....A working auto-tensioning seatbelt, if buckled, would have saved her life and probably everyone else in the defective car.
Not sure on the pre-crash rollover rebuild. Please send link to reputable source:did that come out in the Uk inquiry? If not its probably hyped BS. And as far as survival, had they all had seat belts on they had ‘a best chance’ at survival but not guaranteed (especially the front seats with airbags and not having the rear seat unbelted passengers loading them after bad deployment) BUT a 50+ mph speed change is very high and can cause aortal separation, etc and is not guaranteed survival) You are correct that in an offset collision seated location relative to the line of the collision force may be different due to rotation of the vehicle. But not that much However In response I may post up the acceleration at each location to the thread “acceleration at locations other than CG” for a hypothetically similar crash. See this thread www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=2968#p2968
@@BrianMcHenrySoftware Very interesting and highly technical...I give my students the analogy of Kepler's Law of planetary orbits to describe the relative decelerations and "swept areas" during a violent action in the same short time period. Stapp survived deceleration from 632mph to zero in around two seconds surviving approx .45 g force at commence of water brake deceleration. Many sources, all reliable will confirm car's history..it was stolen in Paris and crashed, written off by insurance, subsequently bought by a mechanic and repaired. Other drivers for Etoile limousines have stated the car was difficult to handle at speeds over 45 km/h.
@@Warpedsmac In a search for sources most seem conspiracy theory 'news' sources, none from legitimate news sources. Did the 'rolled over totaled vehicle' issue ever come up in the UK inquiry? if so please send any links. On the DeltaV by position: Excellent observation! Had not addressed that! so...I did an evaluation of a similar angled offset crash and see that the RR location is the least DeltaV (41.9 MPH) whereas most other locations are 50 MPH or greater (for CG approximately 50 MPH...i need to reload our actual crash reconstruction simulation from 1998, it was on a mini computer (PCs were not very powerful in 1998!) And for ANY DeltaV survival is never guaranteed but don't think comparisons with the Stapp test is appropriate...but will give that some thought (water decelleration and 4 point harness, etc.) For a summary of the DeltaVs etc please see www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=2968#p2968
The more so called Diana crash 'reconstructions' I watch, the more I believe this was a cleverly devised assassination. Yes, the Mercedes was speeding, but why would you lose control so violently after a mere glancing contact with another vehicle and almost driving in a straight line? Something sinister almost certainly caused the driver to lose control of the car, once inside the tunnel, in my view.
ENOUGH ALREADY! simply because you believe something does not give it any weight aside from to you Believe what you choose to believe watch the program...look at the evidence Read our notes on things www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1304 THIS WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A TRADGEDY DUE TO SPEEDING, DUI, UNBELTED OCCUPANTS AND A LACK OF SAFETY DEVICE IN FRONT OF THE BRIDGE PILLARS READ Science was behind our crash reconstruction and science explains that the intoxicated driver was speeding too fast while making the left hand turn on the downward slope into the tunnel trying to escape Paparazzi and as a result of the minor clip of the Uno overreacted and lost control of the vehicle and slammed into bridge pillar #13.

It just demonstrates that you (and others) simply refuse to accept the findings. @@Xsuprio except he wasn't.
Why did it take an hour for Diana to get to the hospital 3 miles away? Just curious
If you look at the inquiry into her death which includes information on such questions you will find it was mainly due to their working to stabilize her before trying to move her. If you've ever been in an ambulance you'll know that it is not a smooth ride, very stiff suspensions and not comfortable. Given her serious injuries the delay was as they worked to stabilize her.
@BrianMcHenrySoftware couldn't they have done that in transit.
i never seen that these pillars where open.. I mean they are deathtraps.. Crazy some one who builds that need to be sued..
you would think with such a high profile crash and death that they might consider putting a guardrail in front of it however apparently France is not the same as US. And note, as recently as a month or so ago i saw a similar situation in Nashville, TN so i expect many older bridges do not have guardrails or other safety devices to protect the errant vehicle from crashing into the bridge support. See this photo/discussion www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=2793#p2793
Were they fleeing from someone to drive crazy like this?

If someone wanted to kill someone, you would not choose a high speed chase with a bullet proof Mercedes. Hardly guaranteed to kill the occupants. Just a terrible accident caused by over zealous paparazzi and a reckless chauffeur
CTX what a hot car. Such a waste.
Kinda dumb to build pillars in the tunnel like that without putting railings between them so the car would simply bounce off.
We ask governments in all countries to unite the bridge pillars as high as one or two meters so that if a car hits a bridge support, it can still slide not as badly as a car crashes into a bridge pillar so that an accident hitting a pillar like what happened to Princess Diana does not happen again, sorry and thank you.
An easier and less expensive solution would be as a minimum to install metal guardrails along the roadway adjacent to bridge supports to redirect the vehicle and avoid these types of crashes. There are a LOT of bridges without any protective devices for the bridge supports. See www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=2793#p2793
you could have hierarchical zones/spheres in the scene, so that you can load it LOD based
LOD geometry/material streaming, stored in separate files
generate the LODs when saving the original high detail segmented/grid vrml
can be determined of the possible detail based on distance, gets rid of the too-much-too-few (geometric/material) detail, too close too far thing
Seriously, which idiot designs tunnel expressways with exposed pillars instead of concrete safety barriers. Idiotic. Poor safety construction standards.
Not sure when that bridge was designed and installed, however it may not have been standard to put protective barriers in front of support pillars adjacent to travel lanes. It is surprising that the French government hasn't installed a safety barrier in front of those pillars. However interesting recent observation: In Nashville, TN a recently saw exposed pillars. see www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=2793#p2793
Wow: live & let die: unreal best ever in movie 🎬 history
It wasn't live and let die.
Why are the driving physics just like gta
gta=grand theft auto? the reason might be that the intoxicated driver entered the down slope entrance to the tunnel at too fast a speed and couldn't stay in his lane. He clipped the Uno (basically knocked off it's side view mirror) and then lost control of the vehicle swerving to avoid another contact with the Uno and slammed into the piller #13 the movements of the car are a simulation for more info see www.mchenrysoftware.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1304
@BrianMcHenrySoftware the drivers family denied his being drunk.it is also possible the uno clipped the car first.

They had to reshoot as that was a family of four whose dad took a wrong turn on the way to a vacation in Phuket.
There was also someone back of their car. In the picture taken from the tunnel, Diana was looking out from the back window, and the bodyguard tried to look back from the front mirror. Then there was someone taking the picture from in front of the car. Wouldn't you think they were ambushed?
You are mixing and morphing things with no real evidence to support it That is how conspiracy theories come about The picture you reference has been used as the 'last pic' and was through the front window. They were being harassed by paparazzi who took many many pictures, some from the front, side, etc They are used as teaser for click bait...These pictures were taken at some point during the night (see the reconstructed official timeline and path of travel of the vehicle that evening in the official inquisition) but a picture was NOT taken just before the tunnel and NOT just before the crash probably just before Herni Paul sped off and away from them and then lost control and hit pillar #13 But the photo was not part of any conspiracy the crash was due to DUI, speeding, no protective devices in front of the pillars, and the loss of control of the vehicle. There was an exhaustive investigation which sifted though any and all pictures , testimony, evidence, etc and came to the conclusion THIS WAS NOT A CONSPIRACY!!!

In Westminster Abbey, beneath a gold canopy, well hidden from our unworthy eyes, a professed adulterer is to be anointed with holy oil with his beloved mistress-become-wife, now proudly watching on, beside him. ... Somewhat tarnished, this besmircher and betrayer of the Princess of Wales, thinks that everything is now hunky-dory and fine and dandy. - He believes that the entire world will consider him the Defender of the Faith and the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Allow this prospect, Your Majesty, our noble Queen; and all your undoubted dedication and diligence of 70 years would sadly dissolve definitively into nothing; becoming completely null and void. - And the doors would firmly slam shut on the justly proud House of Windsor forever.

Good animation, very realistic. But i have to ask one thing and i ask you to read the whole thing. (Not a conspiracy theorist) Why were the 14 CCTV cam's all not working or simply pointed the other way? Surely if there are 14 camera's at least one of them saw a glimpse of the crash? Even if it was in the background and very grainy anything helps. Am i, as an I.T guy, supposed to believe that 14 camera's existed and NONE of them recorded even a small portion the crash? I witness weird technology bugs and glitches all the time at work, but to have 14 CCTV Camera's and none of them recording a thing just sounds impossible to me. I'm not saying it was a hit or a conspiracy, but the fact that the official French judicial enquiry into the crash was told that none of the cameras were working, is just a no for me. Either they switched all the camera's off or they simply decided to not show the footage for whatever reason.
Where did you get the information that the "official french inquiry into the crash was told none of the cameras were working" Please send a link I have heard that most cameras with possible recorded information were business cameras which did not capture anything of interest. As far as CCTV i hadn't heard of 14 CCTV cameras However i do recall searching on technology of the day (1997) that CCTV camera did not routinely have recorders that many were simply for viewing? (and i recall looking up information on mobile phones and cameras and the technology was NOTHING like we have today and sporadic at best, etc) so very interested in where you got that information and what the explanation for the lapse was. We live in the #AgeofDisinformation here anything and everything can be 'proven' with a simple web search the main quesiton is: if the information from a reputable source? or from some conspiracy laden site simply putting forth lies and rumors to get attention? That is the #MajorQuandryof2021 how to separate the wheat from the chaff?? What is real and what is a hoax.
