Pruning my raspberries for the 1st time. They've been planted for about 3 years. Last year we had a WONDERFUL harvest and this year all those canes are dead and need to be removed. Hey Brandi: I simply love the life that you have made for yourself. I only wish that I could have a homestead! Even though I'm trying to prepare myself and my home for sustainability. I think it's awesome. I'm function over form, if it works it works. It's always a learning experience and this build is going to help you on your next build. I'm just using a frost cover over my frame for my mizuna, bok choy, and arugula. If they freeze and die it's just the end of the season outdoors for me. I have enough growing inside to keep me busy until spring :P I'm in South Jersey. Also, Temu has frost covers and insect netting pretty cheap. Happy Holidays!

I planted my garlic with an all purpose slow release fertilizer and gave it some bone meal for root growth. Will give it some blood meal early spring. Good luck!
They don't really need fertilizer until spring.... everything is in the bulb. I tried the fertilizer soak last year before planting on half the garlic I planted.... no difference. But definitely the bone meal in the spring.
Thought It made since to do it now since it is slow release for root development.
I just purchased the sqft template thingy last week. Looking forward to using it. I thought ppl normally pull up their irrigation systems during the winter months.
Some do...but these ones are rubber so I don't believe anything will affect them. They were in all last winter....although we didn't have a very cold winter.

Good luck getting your raspberries moved. They are stubborn. Took me 2 deep digs to get all the roots out so they'd stop sending up new plants in the 1st place I had planted them. 😆
