I never tire of this well-scripted, well-directed, well-acted scene [both actors having fun]; worthy of repeat viewings -- along with the immediately following main title, both visuals and main title score. 2:10 - 2:11 NEVER tire of the young woman's SEXY legs adorned in a SHORT skirt while seated in a car's passenger seat at night. The man driving is sure to be one lucky dude. ULTRA sexy, and the music just gets you there, full throttle.

Absolutely, one of the best scenes. So much emotion, on the surface and beneath. . . . At the conclusion, Jack's "business" of remembering to move the chair back to its original position was an interesting choice, storywise and directing wise. Viewers surmise all he wanted to do was KISS DEVON FULL ON THE MOUTH -- yet couldn't do that, so, a peck on her luminous forehead -- then GET OUT! Then scream or cry or hit the wall. And light up one of his unlit smokes. A candidate for another in the Top Ten "Midnight Caller" scenes is: exterior San Francisco, Devon (Wendy Kilbourne) hurriedly telling her mom (guest star Bonnie Bartlett) (paraphrase), "I've gotta tell the jerk I love him!" to which her mom says, "Which jerk -- Jack or Richard?" What a blow, what a disappointment for Jack -- and viewers; Devon's choice is: Richard. Now, when Richard first appeared near the end of Season Two and was played by James Read (Kilbourne's real life husband) one could wager it would be a tough choice for Devon. (ed. - And how tough for Kilbourne to continue filming despite learning she wouldn't remain the female lead throughout Season Three.) IMO when Christopher Lawford inherited the role of Richard in Season Three, an unwise casting choice, the actor paled in comparison to Read. While being so blunt going down "Midnight Caller" Memory Lane and continuing "MC" 101, Kilbourne's unanticipated (to a lot of people) replacement, Lisa Eilbacher (new station owner 'Nicky'), while talented and attractive, paled in comparison to Wendy Kilbourne / 'Devon'. Kilbourne was so much prettier. Parroting my above comment: What a disappointment for Gary Cole / 'Jack' -- and viewers. (BTW, to soften the blow to all the Lisa Eilbacher fans, I'm a huge fan of Lisa and sister Cindy's guest appearance -- as sisters -- on an "Alias Smith and Jones." 'The Posse that Wouldn't Quit' (1971) is a charming episode; great chemistry between the male leads and the cute sibling guest stars, plus Vera Miles, as the girls' mother.)

Wendy still looks terrific. Also glad the entire cast is still around and active in show business and other pursuits.
