I just turned 60 so I thought I would try this. I love the outdoors so you will see a lot of kayak videos. I also have been flying RC for 40 years, so expect to see a lot of RC and FPV content.

Nice flight, Did you have to change any of the presets in the settings or is this straight out of the box.
I did change a few thing. End points, osd, flight modes. But in general it's all stock.
What an amazing flight thoroughly enjoyed it
Hello, I'm wondering if you've had any results yet regarding your Matek ASPD-4525. I'm curious to know whether altering the length of the hose affected your results. Also, you said in the video that you received two lengths of hose in the package. Do you know what length each of those were approximately? The package I received had only one length of hose of about 16 inches. I'm unsure this will be long enough to cover the distance of a single run from the pitot to the sensor, let alone both dynamic and static pressure. I'm hoping I can use more hose than what was initially provided.
I did a flight test and she works great. Check out my channel as I will be posting it in a few hours. I don't remember the exact length it came in, but the final installation is on the side of the plane on the nose and the tubing is around 1 inch in length. You could always mount your pitot with short tubing and mount the control box closer and then lengthen the wires to your flight controller. Maybe purchase more tubing and just tape the sensor to your plane and do a few test runs to see what works best for you before doing a permanent install.
Been using a usb power bank and small fan … stays nice and cool. When I first got my LR4, it took forever to lock in satellites. Fly woo said up to 30 sats. I rerouted the GPS module to the top of my battery with Velcro, between the two battery straps. Also shielded the wires with copper tape. Now, I always get at least 25 satellites and many times 33 satellites. Super fast too. I don’t really need the fan. I was a little worried about GPS damage in a crash. I don’t really crash that often , so I took a chance. It has been great so far. Module stays with the battery straps when changing … super easy. A few days ago, I lost connection while mountain surfing. I was just turning to surf down. Lost video. Hit GPS rescue a little late and lost it. At the top of Provo Peak , 11,007 feet. 3000 feet up and 1 1/2 miles away , late in the afternoon. I was so sad. My brother and I hiked to the summit the next day and found it. I couldn’t have located it without the help of a Marco Polo tag and locator. It led me to my quad in 10 minutes on the top of a mountain. It wasn’t cheap, but it has saved my quads many times. Turn it on and find your way to the tag up to 2 miles away. Totally brutal hike, but no one got hurt and we came back with the quad. GPS was fine! Didn’t even lose a prop. I did lose a battery that was draining all night. Checked things out … flies perfectly. I have flown so many killer , remote places with this little drone. I’ve had so many drones, but this one has given me more fun than any of them. GPS on top … a great mod. They say laughter is the best medicine. A good day of FPV at a cool place can also do wonders. Love this shit . Never going to grow up. Have fun in the air!
Hope your blades are ok!
Amazing what these blades can take.
Thanks - curious to see how it works for you.
Early UAVs were caught in nets. Fly it right into a Walmart Badminton net! Who needs landing gear and wheels
Unless your bird has landing gear, your going to prang that thing into the dirt unless you do one of those “butterfly with sore feet” landings.
You Sir are correct. My first landing in grass looked like a javelin stuck in the ground. I have since moved it to the side. Thanks for the tip though.
Thank you! Awsome explanation.
Love the strobe light. Do you have a link? I’ve been searching for one. I have a swordfish as well.
There's room for one more. Just don't know where you would stick it. RC life after 47 years is still a passion. 63 in 2 months. I'm in the club.
I'm 61 and have been flying RC since I was 16. I need to figure out away to fit one more led in the tail.
There are never enough!
Totally agree love it too many LEDs are never enough Take care
What did you do with the old power distribution pannel in the bottom? (The one for the motors. I forgot it's name). I am looking at making a setup with the normal SB405 Wing.
I simply removed it. Made my connections direct to the flight control. Makes for a cleaner setup.
@@Livinglifeat60Thanks for letting me know. I am assuming you attached the exposed wires like you would a EMC (or whatever it is called) to the pads on the controller?
@@alexanderanderson9929 You are correct.
I had those charging cables with the green led, I liked em
A power bank or OTG cable from my phone has been my go-to solution for the same thing. Cool tip, though, and it can double as a phone charger :-)
I was using a powerbank for the same purpose. The problem is that the plugs have finite insertions so I tend to use a fan with a battery. Also I have plastic caps on UBS's so it is an extra hassle. Also some new controllers can stop the power to vtx completely with a switch.
Cool tip my friend i guess if u use a 3.3 volt pad or a 5 volt pad u can do the same as well.., I have yet to put a gps on one of my quads but I plan on doin it on my next build...thanks for the tip 🫡 subscribed
There are a few options for this. They make RC switches that you can add to remotely turn off the VTX. Many FC include this sort of FC powerdown option nowdays too. Id look for this option on future builds. For existing aircraft that dont have a vtx power option you can use a USB fan also as an alternative. These included with your method are all good things to keep in the toolbox!
Even if you're only powering the FC over USB, the VTX is still transmitting. If you want to keep your VTX cool, just put Pit Mode on a switch.
Not on my quad, The usb only powers the fc and gps. You need to connect your battery to power the Avatar video tx.
Typically that's not the case. Perhaps on a tiny whoop, or something that would use a little 5V VTx? But anything that would fly with 4-6 cell would have isolated power rails for VTx's that don't feed off a 5V USB input.
None of my 4 quads are transmitting when powered by usb
on my plane i just plug in when im ready to fly
Same for myself. I plug in my video tx last. On my quad I have no choice.
can i ask what frimware you are on fop the walksnail

@@Livinglifeat60 thanks man
I found there was no need for the ground wire, as it's a common ground with the feed to the esc. Hope this helps
Its an amazing plane to fly like its on rails . Looking forward to the maiden Take Care
No f-bombs were dropped in the making of this video 😅😊😮😅 don't think you're the only one that's ever put the props on wrong I have 10 of those quads and I've done it at least four that I will admit Take care looking forward to your next video
Great little plane looks like you got it dialed in take care
Great flight amazing FPV platform Take Care
it's awesome
Nice review and good ideas on rigging. Just got two Seawards 2006, a Tyee and a Vision both in excellent condition for $2K. Excited to try them. So well made.
They are just beautiful kayaks. I am sure you will get many years of pleasure paddling them.
First half of the music sounds like early pink Floyd.
i just wish i had a place like that to fly
WOW id love to fly there
VERY GOOD SIR
Link to that strobe ?
Great video. I have that same radio/gimbal. Great idea on the shoulder buttons. It’s a great radio. I did run into a bad card reader on the first one I got. Returned it and its replacement has been flawless.
Thank you for the message. Yes, it is a great radio, I just love it.
So how far does the Baofeng bf888s receive and transmit? Thanks
I've had a distance of around 4 km and they worked perfectly.
I got this same one a month ago, bought the PEI plate right away and printed a spool holder that uses bearings that I just happened to already have. The filament is never taut so its pulls smoothly.
When I started printing I touched the plate alot with my fingers, and the oil is enough for things to not stick. Dishsoap and water occasionally is your friend!
I use acetone before every print. Works great.
How can I add a new frequency to my vhf radio?, for the same model.
Enjoy! I have had mine for about a week and love it!
Better play nice on the ice.
Where does the capacitor go to?
The cap goes to the power wires on the speed control. Solder it to the same pads as the main power wire connection.
Ok great thanks for the reply
The trick with the heatshrink over the connectors would not work for too well for me for plugging into the flight controllers as the increase in thickness would make it a really difficult if not impossible.
i have a cell capacity checker kind of the same as the one you have there but mine is called a capacity checker (cost me about 5 pound )does that one start to ballance if you hold the type button for a few seconds ? i enjoyed the video thank you, am building a 48v pack at the moment 13s 5p but with videoing it for youtube and waiting on bits to arrive its taking its time ,im also about to attempt to remove my old solder from some cells i could do with using in another pack with spot welder ,i have subscribed
Super useful video for me as I’m planning to make my first battery pack. Many thanks.
You are very welcome. I'm sure you will enjoy it as it's a fun project.
I bought a spot weld unit and it just doesn’t seem to put a permanent/strong weld to the tin strip onto the 18650 so I have resorted to scratching the terminal up really good and soldering 18 or 16 gauge silicone wire
I used a small wire brush on the terminals before welding. Maybe try turning up the power on your welder. I use 3 spots per cell.
👍 interesting
Good idea is to add "real PIT" on VTX power line😉
I use a USB powerbank to power the flight controller in order to obtain GPS 3D by powering the GPS on a 4V5 pad and the VTX on a regular 5V pad that isn't powered by USB. So I wait till I'm ready to fly when notified by the INAV LUA script on my radio. But yeah I do use a fan when building and or testing video.
thank you very much ...
You're welcome.
