    Producing 20 kg Brackene from the following plants requires... Nosh Beans: 11.55 kg water (from domestic Arbor Trees) Sleet Wheat Grain: 55 kg water Pincha Peppernut: 227 kg water . The Gassy Moo converts 1 kg chlorine into 50 kg Brackene per cycle. . In addition, the Gassy Moo only needs to be milked every 4 cycles. Gassy Moos are a far more resource & dupe operation efficient source of Brackene over the Plant Pulverizer.

    What a shame Lice Loaf is so suboptimal. What would happen if Klei were to decrease its water demand? Would Gristle Berry be skipped in place of sticking with Mealwood? Or would the single food quality difference between the two still allow Gristle Berry to shine in the early game?

    I'm not sure if your math on curried beans is correct. True, you can only produce 12,000kC of it per cycle, enough to fully feed 12 dupes - but getting the Hot Stuff buff only requires a dupe to have eaten _some_ curry in the last two cycles; it doesn't require them to get all their calories from it. At the very least you ought to be able to sustain 24 dupes with the buff by feeding them curry on alternate cycles; if there's some clever method of making supes eat less than 1000kC in a single meal, this number goes up. Also, can you use the minimal-feeding method to grow Tonic Root?

    Why would I want to speed up getting a Stone Hatch? They patched it ages ago that it only drops 50% of the mass it consumes as coal while the Sage gives 100%. Is it because of the metal or because of their diet?

      Stone hatches are the only way to make smooth hatches, so you could speed that up. Otherwise yes it's the diet that differentiates them from sage hatches. Stone hatches eat igneous rock, which can be made renewably.

    One obvious improvement: When a rocket is returning during a meteor shower, you only need to open the doors above the rocket silo. The rest of the doors can stay shut to protect your buildings.

      You have to use a checkpoint and dock at the entrance/exit of the spacefairer module interior. That way they will always leave the module in a suit, even if in a trailblazer.

    So you can't just set up a checkpoint of some sorts at the entrance of the bedroom so they'd change into the pajamas then their normal clothes on their way out?

      No, there's no way to automate clothing like that, and even if there were then unequipping the pyjamas would lose the dream journal progress anyway.

      @@GCFungus Well, if their normal 2-3 slots isn't enough to generate one dream journal, I see how progress would matter. But having dupes dedicated to sleep... sounds contrived and stupid to me as a gameplay feature, so much so that I find it hard to believe that this was the original intent of the developers for gameplay integration.

    What do you do with all the igneous rock that this design makes? I see it gets dumped into the hole but do you just leave that? Also, I noticed when building mine that that specific door isnt opening at all despite me trying to switch it on or off and it just wont go?

      If the door isn't working then I can only assume it's not connected properly. As for the rock, in this design it's just left but you can take it out for use. It is quite hit though and can be used for some more power if conveyor railed out.

    So it's a tradeoff of 480W and a few cycles of setup for 6 extra sets of hands around the base. No oxygen, no food, and immune to extreme temps and disease. Pretty good deal IMO, even if they're mostly just good for digging and delivering.

    I use dasha saltvines as a passive filter for any chlorine that gets places I don't want it. One every level or so tends to eat it all up as the gass levels fluctuate. Keeps chlorine away from sensitive things like my shrooms

    Where is that 12 terrarium per dupe coming from actually? Isn't a single terrarium producing 40g/s? So shouldn't it be more or less 5 per dupe?

    Just like a lot of the content that had been added in the last couple years, like dehydrator and etc, they seem to be lacking in any foresight in terms of their usefulness. At this point I feel like Klei is just adding these content just for the sake of adding content, not for the benefit of the gameplay itself; I have about 1000 hours in this game and I find spaced out DLC pretty disappointing, not because what they can offer, but the lack of its actual integration into base game with balance in mind. Everything about DLC feels clunky, not to mention how unoptimized it is. I have base at 1700 cycle, haven't colonized a single planetoid but have a perfectly sustainable base. But the game is so darn laggy its almost unplayable. sigh.

    something that id like to add quickly is to keep in mind the possibility of the thimble reed being too hot or too cold. thimble reeds can survive between 22 and 37 degrees C, which is a range of only 15 degrees. my thimble reed ended up getting too hot, so I connected it to my base's main cooling loop to cool it down. after a while though, it got just barely below its minimum temperature of 22 degrees C, so I chose to replace the thimble reed with a bristle blossom connected to the output from the water sieve. the bristle blossoms liveable temperature range is what you'll typically want your colony to be at anyway, so as long as your colony temp is overall fine you wont need to worry about the bristle blossom under/overheating. of course, if you do this then the bristle blossoms will produce bristle berries covered in about 200 septillion food poisoning germs, so make sure that the duplicants cant grab and eat them by using door controls or just boxing the plant in.

    In the Spaced Out DLC, Rovers are functionally equivalent to Biobots, except they don't require any Zombie Spores, there's no upper limit on how many can be produced, and you can use any metal Ore as well as Steel, Niobium, or Thermium. A Rover has the same lifespan as a Biobot, and can perform the same tasks with the same speed and limitations. However, they are much easier to produce. You CAN launch rovers on your home-planetoid, simply by launching a rocket into orbit, dropping the Rover and then landing the rocket again, at which point it can be "reloaded" with another rover (and any necessary fuel) to go again. The only downside is that they can't be automated. Dropping a rover must be done manually, and they do not automatically generate deconstruct orders when they run out of power.
