    And then there is the issue of converting voltage. Anything made outside of US is 22ov 50 Hz.

    I'm looking for a projector recommendation. I need a projector with a great lens that produces a sharp image from corner to corner and is gentle on the film. I've tested four super 8 projectors, including the Kodak M80 with three different lenses, Kodak Moviedeck 457, Eumig Mark S 802, and Canon S-2. Among them, I found that the Kodak 457 is the most gentle to films, but the Moviedeck's and M80's lenses are very soft. The Canon's lens is sharp, but the hot bulb makes it risky to watch movies on it. Eumig was nice, but it wasn't as gentle to my films, and the lens has a very shallow depth of field. I don't need sound in the projector but don't mind if it's there. Thank you for all suggestions!

      I'd be looking at one of the better Elmo sound projectors. One of the ST range, 800 or 1200 or even an SC18. They have good standard lenses but you can buy option Schneider lenses for them that really are top of the range. Good luck!

    I'm amazed to learn that there are still drive-ins in Australia. Here in the U.S. there are very few left. I've only seen five in my entire life and only 2 of those were operational.

    Really great video - Thank you. My late father was an amateur film-maker and shot everything on Super 8 with sound. I have a load of his old work to transfer on to a digital format to preserve history. All the best

    I still have my Sankyo Stereo - 800 Super 8mm sound movie porjector. The reason why I brought this was because you could record sound on the second track of the super 8 sound film somost of my home movies had music add to them.

    • @davidkilderry1828
      @davidkilderry1828 Před 4 lety

      No. It will blow the power supply in most cases. Best bet it to change your lens to one that allows more light through like 1.2 or 1.1 or buy a projector that has a brighter bulb.

    thank you David ,did you know that the Westrex in car speakers had a mute system at the speaker post so that when you hung up the speaker the sound was muted thus saving you running around turning down the speaker pots or volume controls,and also the signal strength was about 1 third of a watt at each in car speaker

    Whilst the in-car drive-in speaker as we know it today did not start selling in big numbers until 1946 because of WW2; it was actually developed by RCA in 1941.
