Brand New SCHINDLER Lift (5500?) @ North City Shopping Centre
Brand new Schindler Lift @ North City
Possibly a 5500? Seems very similar to one, but I’m not 100% sure; hopefully someone can give their thoughts in the comments.
I am one of the first people to ride it; it only opened about half an hour before the recording of this video.
Only the mechanical elements have been replaced - stuff like the lift cab, lighting and doors remain the same.
Going forward, I’m just gonna upload the odd video not following any particular pattern.

BUGGER i went on Friday PM and it was closed but good to see its finally open again. Semi disappointed it was not a full replacement but it was needed
That phone button is likely reused from when it had that button replacement in 2020
6500. It's a Modernization not a full replacement
Agh, cripes…. I’m a little bit disappointed. Never thought I’d see a repeat of 2 Nuffield Street in Newmarket where they have to underclock the speed of the new traction motor because of the limited overrun space 😅 It’s better than what I thought they’d do, though! Also, the modernisation version of 5500 is actually *6500.*

Honestly these round touch sensitive Lexan buttons are my one of my favorite buttons from Otis along with the Lexan Halo, Concave & even Shanghai STEP even though Shanghai STEP is not an official Otis fixture as Shanghai STEP buttons are not just used by Otis as it's been used by SJEC

Interestingly, this elevator (as well as the one beside it) has since been modernised *again* by KONE with KDS 330 fixtures! Both lifts have been put on the same controller as well, so now both are for public use!
These are from around the late 60s-early 70s. You were probabaly the last person to film Car B4 before it permanently died. Cars B3 and B4 are nearly done being replaced with new Schindler 7000s, and will be operational soon! Cars B1 & B2 are next!

Yep, replaced an EcoDisc that somehow always got the filmer lots of views… I like the red US95 buttons on these! Also interesting how they used the older Asian voice on these elevators, despite them being done up in 2020 - you’d expect the newer Asian voice at the least by this point…
