Why I ROAM: Christopher Stricklen
“I think a photograph communicates a certain idea, a certain expression, and usually it’s just part of a bigger thought.”
For photographer Christopher Stricklen, the moments he captures in cycling are bigger than the ride itself. While bikes may be present in his images, Christopher’s true focus surrounds the emotion and experience of riding - all moments in time, frozen in photograph.
However, Christopher's journey as a photographer didn’t start on the bike. With a background in landscape, architecture, and street photography, he began to notice parallels in the subjects he was most comfortable photographing and elements inherent in cycling. This realization allowed him to seamlessly blend his passion for photography with his love for the bike.

Relocating to a new geographic area with new language and customs is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. I firmly believe this move, forced to adapt and improvise, brought him over the hump. I have been following Jim since early on with Western States. Hearing about this finish last year was just amazing. His interview with I Run Far made me teary. And my husband and I are hiking the TMB next month and are going to take 9 days. I am a runner, but my husband isn't. I don't see qualifying for UTMB in my future. Hiking it I still get to do it and my non running husband gets to do it too instead of just crew me!

Incredible story and spirit!
Just like his wife, I've changed my mind about Walmsley 😅 I think he was a bit too cocky in the start, and he seemed really boastful, even more so when the performances lagged behind. He made several beginner mistakes just because he didn't plan and prepare enough. He seems to have mellowed a bit and is now more focused. The results have improved, and nowadays, he can pretty much deliver what he promises. A great runner and seems like a genuinely nice guy. Best of luck to his future endeavors! Also, it is a great video. It is nice to see these kinds of longer videos with high-quality production on CZcams, especially about running.
