I love this song. I've been playing it for weeks now. Funny how Zappa stuff never ages. "Are we moving to slow have you seen us Uncle Remus?" "just keep your nose to the grindstone they say" "will that redeem us Uncle Remus? "I can't wait til my fro is full grown - I'll just throw my do rag at home..." and here I am at work trying to go as fast as I can but apparently, I'm "moving too slow" and all I can hear on an eternal loop is this song - damn Frank. I miss you so. You and me 'we'll take a ride to Beverly Hills, just before dawn...and knock the little jockeys off the rich peoples' lawns and before they get up, we'll be gone' - I still miss you. Thanks Dweezil for keeping it REAL and for keeping his and your legacy alive. Saw you here not a month ago Denver, Colorado land...and as always you are and remain fabulous along with that band of yours.
The stage hand in the background just smiling & singing along. That would’ve totally been me as well if I were that guy. Beautiful song, great performance!
Yes excellent performance all around...everyone played and sang perfectly, and Dweezil? Amazing solos!!!
Bruce springsteen et lui sont mes star ds. Je n, ai jamais eu la chance chance de les voir en vrais. Tj un plaisir plaisir pour moi de les écouter.
Toutes mon ado. J, adore toutes ses musiques. Et avec Bruce Springsteen, un duo nickel.
Frank was so unique in that, although HIS instrument of choice was the Guitar, he made songs that HIGHLIGHTED OTHER instruments: Brass, Drumz, Percussion, Bass, Vocals, Synths, the Synclavier, and in this case The Piano (for more study see his "Lather" album). He was/is the "Composer's Composer". Whilst amazing, the Guitar in this song is NOT the featured instrument but instead the "icing on the cake" SQUIRTED upon the Piano so to speak. Amazing Composer. Zappa will LIVE forever in the hearts and minds of Musicians and Fans Worldwide forever. And THANK YOU "Dweeze" for giving NEW audiences the opportunity to experience his body of work.
❤
He's lucky that his last name is Zappa so that he can do this without paying heavy licensing fees.
I catch Dweezil every time he comes around… always fantastic
the solo I always wanted!
DZ finally the custodian of daddys music... coming to see you in reno dweez August 6th and then see you in my hometown of Pittsburgh later that month
Outstanding cover, so thankful Dweezil continues to slay these incredible covers of his dad. That tone is just ridiculous, and the two singers absolutely nail the vocals. Thanks for posting.
What Music Is All About .
Adam Minkoff is an awesome musician!
The legend lives! In those halcyon days Zappa concerts were the best of times. If only Frank would shut up and play the guitar. 😅
Female vocalist ruined this one
I hate when cover artists try and do their own thing and it makes the song worse. Stay on que with everyone else.
@HC-sb1ru If only that were true. She was ASS
His father can be proud of him in the sky...What a chance to have had a father like that...and what a solo \ just great!
Frank Zappa was a musical genius. And his extensive group of musicians in his band over the years. Dweezil is following in his father's musical footsteps. He shreds that guitar.
..... Sorry, but Frank was 1 km above......
Not even close to true. Frank might’ve been an amazing composer, but his guitar skills were nothing special. Dweezil does an awesome job replicating his fathers sound, maybe even a more talented guitarist. Frank admits in multiple interviews he wasn’t an amazing guitarist.

I can't wait till my fro is full grown!
I came from Portugal to see this concert. I hope to see you soon Dweezil Miss you Frank
Insane indian Zappa style solo ,well done The Dweez
A very precious partnership -- so grateful to have been alive during their musicmaking -- thanks very much for posting ❤
Oh wow. First saw Southside in 1976 on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. I went on to promote a few of his albums in the 80’s. Still love him. And of course Stevie!!🎶🎶
“Parabéns Dweezil” a Eternidade está assegurada.....Excelentes Músicos....🍻👍
South side and Little Steven great together with Steven's band great I also want to thank my brother Mike Schuhlein for introducing me to Springsteen Southside and all the other greats music wise. Thanks Robert Schuhlein
Just pure brilliance x
Yep, i was there. I discovered Frank's music around 1989. Too late to see the master perform. But i guess it won't get any better then this.
Dweezil is just killing it…he has really become an amazing musician
A great performance that should have been included on the "Soulfire Live!" boxed set. #solidarityforever
I’m now 80 and thru the years I’ve seen many performers ( won’t bore you with who) but South stands out as my all time favorite. Garden State Art Center, Club Bene’, The Pony, The Jersey Shore, too many to remember. NOBODY entertained like this guy. A NJ legend.
Dam club Bene, now im old to?
@@anthonygallo3576 Got any mirrors in your house?
Nice performance Johnnie. I miss you on the Asbury and Belmar shore. The Pony, Mary’s husbands pub. And the good old days. Brother good to see a performer make it from the shore specially one you know and love.
Never heard dweezzle on vocals before but this shit is awesome
He is gorgeous to this very day
Southside Johnny did a show in the Paradiso the night before, it was a blast! As always....
nice, I was afraid for a moment when it started all slow. I think it's hard to recreate the over-the-top-ness of the original recording/Mothers line-up, vocals especially. Glad they did the ZINY version after all. This must've been on the Ronda stage of Tivoli Vredenburg, went there last Nov to see Luis Cole.
Love seeing my old buds every chance I can. I miss the good old days at the Pony in Asbury Park and the private parties at Mary’s Husband’s Pub in Belmar N.J. Johnnie and Stevie can’t wait to see you guys again. “It’s been a long time.”
Love this!
Steven van zandt must come and visit south africa
Got fucking floored by that lick at 3:22 and played it at least thirty times
Man has the best voice, soulful, white god, bruce is a god writing songs, s side sings like a angel, never heard a voice like his, awesome, never worried about money, just wanted too make music, if he wanted could have made it too the top !!!!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀
stevie pretty good a writing songs too
💃💃💃💃❤️❤️❤️❤️💪💪💪💪
Missin the East Coast. I. A bad way.
I miss it too.. This Jersey shore sound. Rock you can dance too.
My sweet Lord!! Good rock 'n roll. Just not enough of it these days
This stuff speaks to my soul.
Stevie wrote most of south sides best songs. Let’s not forget!
How could we, Little Steven is a great composer. We saw him in concert, but there was too much band. A wall of sound, missing the dynamics of the Asbury Jukes. Still great to see though...
Another great thing about Little Steven that he is very supportive of his friends, as far as i can see. There is a video somewhere that he invited Peter Wolf on stage, of the mighty J. Geils Band. He rehearsed the JGB song Freeze Frame with his band, fabulous.
rock and roll semplice graffiante imperfetto ruvido praticamente stupendooooo
Dweez see you again soon
Uncle Remus is a great song no doubt. Just remarking about the social unrest in the country
Not just a great recording, but also a monster solo his dad would have been proud of...
Did Southside ever do any cameos on the Sopranos? Anybody know?
no but he made it to SCTV
