I have this on right now and honestly I rather use the older metal ones.. Uncomfortable, unreasonable extremely expensive, they permanently glue a metal hook behind your bottom teeth, and overall higiene. I clean mines at least 5 times a day. The only convenience is for the dentist to make a whole bunch of money really. I paid $500 each pair and I have 2.

Do you think 3D printing will be able to make custom abutments and implants? Instead of dentist and lab technicians having to use large companies like Nobel Biocare who WAY over charge for there products, which drives the cost way up for dentists, labs which gets passed on to the patients.

I have been working with this system for two years now, it is only good for intermediate or temporarily placed dentures, so disappointed with the whole digital denture concept, and it's not through lack of experience or training as I am a dental prosthetist with 25 years experience and see an average of 200 denture patients per month. I have designed printed and inserted many of these dentures, I use both trio's 3 and e4 lab scanner so accuracy is not in question either, it does not save time or cost and the dentures look like they came out of a cheap candy machine, at the end of the day the best functional and aesthetic dentures are hand crafted and individually characterized, and they can be also re lined, repaired, in addition partial denture base with metal clasps are not an option, my recommendation is not to invest any time or money into digital dentures it's all a gimmick.

Hi I have been using 5100 and 3D Sprint for nearly a year and initially had no problems. I edited my intraoral scans using Meshmixer, making sure to clean the scans in Meshmixer by editing and analysing the file. I routinely fix the models in Sprint and they almost always have no errors after fixing. After many software upgrades, 3D Sprint began crashing during support generation. There is no rhyme or reason to the crashes, but the more models I try to print, the worse the crashing gets. I have started using Blender for dental, but the crashing persists. I am based in Melbourne, Australia. The company that sold me my printers advises me that the fault lies with Meshmixer. When I first started using Meshmixer and 3D sprint I NEVER experienced crashing. Can you help?

With this technology, won't it be possible to make dentures for overseas patients?

En dan nog de bezuinigingen op de psychiatrische zorg met al die loslopende probleem gevallen. they should scan the ones that are pulled dirrectly after pulling a tooth and print one that will fit back into the hole bofore the bone closes shut the hole. GOSH!

depends on your application for the printer. Material list for figure 4 will be more robust. The benefit to the end user looks similar.

Sounds great to me, if the majority of people can have a beautiful smile and healthy looking teeth and gums for a lot less then its a win win situation. Best of luck looking forward to this technology.
