Apples to apples, public charging costs the same or more than a gas car often. I wanted to buy an EV, but after doing math I realized I’d be paying way more overall. This is based on public charging since I can’t charge at my residence, monthly payments for the car, insurance, and average annual registration costs when compared to my currently financed BMW. This is also in California, where they are trying to push EVs on everyone. It’s ridiculous, EVs as they sit are not anywhere near being a good choice financially over gas or a hybrid.

Hybrids are the bridge to EVs with better battery technology and longer range. BYD manufacturers PHEVs and EVs. They are playing the long game just like the Japanese did in the 1970s and 80s. Oh, and BYD already sells and/or manufactures vehicles in 80 countries around the World. electric trucks do not have a 1.5 ltr turbocharge ice engine. ditch the ice an add more batteries

Take the engine and transmission out then replace them with larger watt hours battery pack. As for reverse just switch the input polarity.
