My mates told me silky’s are garbage.. “blades are weak and snap”.. They got quiet watching mine cut our firewood the whole trip 😂. Silky’s have hard blades but if you treat them right they’ll last, and replacement blades are only like $30.

Is camping generally allowed on the first ct lake? Been wanting to go there but wasn’t sure if camping was permitted.

I live within 40 minutes of the spot you started out at, was there a couple days ago. funny thing about Maine doesn't matter early spring or mid summer the wind can make that water sketchy anytime lol. Specially storm season. I had a boat capsize and swam several miles in near freezing water once on Schoodic a neighboring lake. Wardens were former Coast Guard and told me they did not know how I made it, they pulled bodies outta warmer then that lol. Anyhoo you guys picked some truly backwoods water bodies to showcase, very nice to see! First time I caught your videos but I am impressed, great content.

I just tested a 2m x 2m tarp (6.55 foot) and it was a little too short.

I squirt a little bit of paraffin lamp oil on my pad (probably a quarter teaspoon) then i dip it in paraffin wax to seal in the lamp oil they work amazingly. I also use them as a confidence booster for my kids when they were learning to use a ferro rod. First strike every time.

Stop buying these things people. These ultralight things are garbage, they make them lite to a fault. Get an Exped dura or something like that. 1 extra pound for durability wont kill your back, but sleeping on rocks without a functioning pad might.

I live in Maine and have done many of the classic river and lake trips...I don't think I've ever seen so many calm days in a row! Count thy blessings my friend you could easily have had 8 days sitting on the shore waiting for the wind to drop, or the same amount of time grunting your guts out against a 10 mph headwind!

funny, I've been searching for this kind of set up(for a community tarp/bug shelter), and a larger tarp as a rain fly to go with it. I dont know why aqua quest and DD do not offer this kind of product to go with their tarps??? I have found a few online but haven't felt like pulling the trigger on any of them. This is a nice product! 👍👍
