British choreographer Ihsan Rustem studied at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in his hometown of London.
He has worked with many of todays leading choreographers including Ek, Kylian, McGregor, Shechter, Delcroix, Lightfoot / Leon, van Manen, Ekman, Soto and Forsythe, Celis amongst others.

Exactly 200 years after Schubert wrote his unfinished score, much about the work still remains unknown. Written in 1822, when the composer was only 25, it was never performed during his lifetime, interrupted six years later, at the age of 31. The work is shrouded in mystery - even the reason for its incompleteness. There remain unclear facts, mysteries about the inspiration or the troubled life. The score still remained hidden for three decades after Schubert's death. It then became his 8th Symphony, and it carries an intensity that may come from intimate, perhaps repressed experiences. All that surrounds an unfinished work challenges us in various ways: mystery, intrigue, secrets, are the unknown motivations. In researching for this creation for the City Ballet, I pulled inspiration from "unfinished" elements which emerge out of our own lives.

I am glad the poem was written in the description. I found that the words drifted in and out of my conscientiousness, with the dance holding to the moment. Saddened when the soloist danced alone, while everyone else danced in pairs. Unil I heard, "When blown together, we find unity with each other. When pulled apart, we remain inside each other."
