It’s in mohgwyn palace. There’s two ways to get there: 1 early game by completing varre’s quest, and 1 late game by going through the consecrated snowfield. After you get there one way or another, you find the white mask npcs in the large blood swamp in the left central part of the map. It’s kinda hard to describe in writing but the area is one of the smaller zones in the game so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.

@@sadyk4 I’ll be real, I haven’t played MK in a hot minute. I don’t have a lot of time to play games these days and during the time I do get, I’d rather not sweat over online matches or grinding out combo ideas. It’s not that I’m done with MK, but right now it’s easier to kick back with more single player oriented games. Currently I’m working my way through Elden ring’s dlc

@@sadyk4 I think so. Every now and then my kids will want to play or watch me so it’s fun to keep around. Another reason I haven’t done a lot of combos lately is I’ve noticed that prolonged repetitive inputs seem to aggravate old wrist injuries so I try to be careful with that.

Thanks! Normally deaths poker is my go to for npc fights as they just kinda walk into it, but this seems to be much more consistent which is very important at base level

Inescapable frenzy is basically a free W against Gideon; against others it can still work provided you can put them in enough hit stun and remember not to frenzy yourself.

Id be skeptical about no rolling if you also insist on no torrent. You don’t see all of them here but his “get off me” attacks have huge AoEs with even bigger hitboxes: most notably the foot stomp (similar to borealis and ezykes, his produces a huge cloud of ghostflame). I’d assume you would have to use torrent to get to out of range or eat the damage, but if you’re going for no damage, obviously that won’t work. This is also with level 2/20 scardu tree blessings. I would suggest investing in those otherwise you’re A) handicapping yourself for no reason, and B) you’ll need them to do any semblance of “regular” damage. The power scaling aspect of the dlc is interesting; on the one hand you barely notice it on regular enemies, but on the other, you’ll notice an extra 1-200 damage you’re doing per swing after an upgrade.

@TSfish94 I've fought these dragons with all sorts of crazy restrictions. I fought Greyll for nearly ten minutes without damage and ETC. Now of course, it does depends on the hitboxes of the variations.

It exploded like a year and a half ago and is still going pretty strong. I have no clue why. This isn’t even the most damage I’ve done in a single combo lol. And hey, if you really wanna help it get to 100k, you know what to do 👀

“This does not even do it against the cpu in newbie” (source: Google translate) To be fair, there’s a couple reasons for that. First, the morph does damage. This means, unless the AI switches out, you will likely KO the opponent before getting to 100%. Next, you have to land a morph, a special move that has no invincibility or armor, even on wake-up in a game that has several broken invincible wakeups (see check4900’s anti Shang tech resets, bro gets bullied hard in the corner because his wake-up is ass). Third, in order to get max damage, you have to lead with a jump punch (jip in mk9 is always a guaranteed 3% at the start of a combo) and not drop the combo. Fourth, you need three bars, which even with a first hit bonus, you’ll only have 2 at the start of a round. Fifth, this is a midscreen to corner combo, so perhaps you’re having trouble landing it because the opponent is too far away at the end? Finally, and pay close attention, combos like this are rarely ever the most practical. Almost anytime you see a high damage combo done in a video it’s almost definitely for exhibition purposes. To show what the game is capable of. I can’t speak for others but I always tried to make a work of art out of the games mechanics. That said, I’m genuinely curious as to what part is giving you trouble or seems so unreliable. The inputs are fairly simple save for the ending.

@@TSfish94 I got really gg using this weapon. It just doesn't feel the same with other halberds/weapon. Haven't really maxed it out yet.

If you want to fight him at level one, no damage, and no sleep pots, help yourself. The point of this video is to show how easy he is using a setup literally any build can put together. With this setup, you get a strong early game build that requires no more investment than buying sombers 1-4 from iji, then you get access to the somber 7, the only one that requires any effort aside from maybe the final one, then you have free reign to max out whatever somber weapon you want. Since noble tends to give a lot of people trouble when they’re trying to speedrun new builds, I wanted to showcase as many methods to bully him as possible. And for that reason, I used, and will continue to use sleep pots to do so. Not my fault the devs basically let you delete the boss fight 🤷‍♂️

I've been playing this game all my childhood. But I do not know if there are any more combinations with 100 damage in this game?

@@MikeGeorg my highest ever in a single combo is 102%, but if you count resets, there’s much higher damage thresholds than that. My most absurd feat in this game was around a 320 something percent loop between cage and scorpion, but considering I had to rely on the playback function to record combos at the time, the most it captured was about 201% I appreciate your kind words; if you’re interested I made a playlist/highlight reel of my favorite mk9 videos I made back in the day since this video has picked up so much traction.

Back then I didn’t have a capture device so I had to use the replay feature in training mode to record a combo, then I would record the playback on an iPod touch (I don’t even think I had a smart phone back then lol). So no it’s not a mod, just a work around to record stuff since game systems didn’t start having built in capture functions until PS4/Xbone

@@vadimdude sure thing. The replay function has become more niche nowadays as it’s no longer required to record combo videos. Now it’s more of “let me test a move against this” or “how do I punish that?” Considering how old and difficult to access mk9 is nowadays, you’d be forgiven for not knowing about a feature that wasn’t quite ready for its full potential at the time

It was effective. Especially because all you needed was a stray hit to Ex Nonad Dash through.

It’s not too hard to keep up, however, I didn’t have my regular ps3 pad available when I recorded this. I remember I was using something called a ps3 pro A I think (it’s the one modeled after Xbox controllers, I picked it up because I routinely played CoD with my cousin back then) and unfortunately the dpad on that one is one mass of buttons instead of the usual 4 separate buttons: meaning that back>forward inputs like kabal’s nomad dash (bf4 iirc) are much more difficult than normal, hence why I randomly jump kicked. As far as the timing goes, really you just gotta make sure they’re on the ground before you pull the trigger on Jax’s assist. Otherwise it’ll count as part of the combo and knock them out of hitstun instead of relaunching off the unblockable. I believe this was the only true infinite in the game (excluding breakers) as pretty much every other loop combo required meter. Sorry for the info dump, I love talking mechanics in depth.

Probably not. I haven’t put much time into MK1 and I barely know how to combo with geras. There’s probably way more you can do with this

This was before the practice mode patch that would allow you to set the super meter to fill and deplete normally (it used to be all or 1 bar) so even though this is a reset setup (which would normally follow proper super meter behavior until you drop the hit stun), the game recognizes the throw as dropping the combo so practice mode refilled my meter. If you pay attention though, I only use a total of 3 bars to keep it realistic during the demonstration.

It’s not mage (in addition to being incredibly limited for options, sorcery is just really bad at level 1), it’s the ice spear ash of war. One of the best in the game. The reason I’m fighting him like this is because ancient dragons are very dangerous at level 1 due to the camera bugging out during lock-on, and a lot of their attacks having lingering AoEs due to lightning. For enemies like this, it’s much safer to fight them from a distance. I have a level 1 playlist with more fights that are melee focused if that’s your fancy.

I’m sure there’s still an online community provided the servers are still active. There’s a whole subdivision of NRS fans that think this is the greatest MK ever made. I love this game too but its successors definitely improved upon it, save for 11.

@@TSfish94I find myself having more fun playing MK9 and 11. MK9 had better uppercut damage, while on X and 11 having 14% is just too much. Being able to perform uppercuts after combos is annoying. It kills a variety of combos. MKX has ridiculous little time gap between inputs. The only thing i like about MKX is being able to grab mid juggles. Also when i'm playing with my brother, we never use X-rays, kills the pace of the game.

@@athletico3548 I like the creative options you have for combos in 9; mkx still has launching strings or most characters have at least one variation that can combo into specials save for a small handful that are extremely meter dependent. My problem with 11 is that most characters are just boring to play. Most have exactly one option for strings, almost every character has to burn meter to get going, and I personally don’t care for the KB or breakaway system (especially since some characters literally lived or died by their KBs). To each their own but it’s just not for me. As a side note, you and your brother playing without X-rays reminds me of the old meme that X-rays were banned in tournaments. They never were, people just started saying that because good players knew that breakers and armor were far more important. Plus with damage scaling, most characters could get way more off of one or two bars than one X-ray.

@@TSfish94yeah. something i don't like about 11 is that you can spend a meter after a special landing already, getting more damage. I find this really dumb and kills the thrill of risking to waste the meter on a special that didn't land.

Kratos? It’s not so much because the character was broken or that overpowering, it’s simply because he was a version exclusive on ps3 so Xbox players wouldn’t be able to practice the matchup. Plus, depending on the hardware tournaments we’re running on, kratos players might not get to use him which would also be unfair.
