This is the video that got me to subscribe, I stayed there for a month back in 1980, I discuss my stay there on your other video about the pros and cons of Wichita falls.....

When I went to Wichita falls around 1980, I stayed in a ranch house around the corner from Sheppards Air Force Base... I do remember getting bit by a red fire ant... That bite stung my whole leg for a half hour.... You should see what happens when you put a scorpion or a black widow in a tank of red fire ants... I think it was in 1978 or 79 there was a tornado there... Do they still say that Wichita falls is part of tornado Alley? Down the road from where I was staying was a trailer park.... There was also a mall like here in Ocean County New Jersey, called Sykes center... I had my first Mr pibbs there, something like a Dr pepper..... Overall I had a good time... My sister and her fiance did quite a bit of hiking in the woods there...

I really enjoyed your video. My hubs and I lived there in 1972-73 when he was in the Air Force. Coming from the east coast of Virginia, moving to TX was a real culture shock, but I'm glad we were stationed there. What you said about politics was very interesting and shows how times have changed. I worked at McDonald's and met some of the sweetest people I've ever know there. Two of my co-workers kind of took me under their wing and we became fast friends. They regularly invited me to their church and while I went to church-group dinners with them at Pioneer Restaurant, I didn't visit their church. Now, we were Democrats (and Southern Baptists) but while in Texas, I never once heard anyone mention political parties. I assume now that my McDonald's friends were politically conservative because one of them went on to become an instructor at a Christian college in Abilene. But my point is, politics just never came up. We were different but loved our neighbors as we believed we should. Sad that now political party affiliation has taken such outsized importance. Thanks for the trip down memory. Maybe I'll do another comment about the time our A/C went out on July 4, and I spent the holiday literally sitting in my bathtub full of water trying to stay cool.😅

My restaurant going experience has been ruined. There are very few restaurants I actually enjoy.. .the reason is.. I studied Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of Dallas: International Culinary School and I did very well in the cooking department... and my skills have only improved since then. So, no restaurant can do it better than I can. That being said, YES, Luigi's is amazing especially if you get their wine sauced pastas. But still.... but even still, I do it better :) I'm not Italian. I am German. So it doesn't surprise me that they do Italian so well not being Italian. I do Mexican better than any Mexican restaurant I've been to... and I can name ANY nationality and say the same thing. It's super easy to cook... it just takes patience and attention to detail. Very little study to learn the terminology. For instance, when a recipe says to boil... what it really means is a slow simmer.... except in the case of eggs and removing the sting and bitter from garlic cloves. Anyway, I so wish I could open my own restaurant!! I've enjoyed this video very much! thanks for makin' it!
