    I am really torn between the two. Initially I was planning on doing the debt snowball. However, one thing that concerns me is that once I send my money into my mortgage, I have no ability to ever access that cash again. It's a little scary since I would be putting thousands of extra dollars in monthly.

    • @FinancialCoachJess
      @FinancialCoachJess Před dnem

      I understand that. If you have a good sized emergency fund, I wouldn't worry. Debt snowball is really the only option with mortgage debt.

    This is the most risky method I’ve seen. I hope that no one using this method loses their job along the way. Deferring your bills to save a couple bucks does not seem worth the risk. Slow and steady is how you pay off debt. Curious to see how this would work if you don’t carry a balance. Then maybe you use this every other month.

    • @FinancialCoachJess
      @FinancialCoachJess Před 2 dny

      In this method, your bills are not deferred so I'm not sure of the risk that you are talking about.

      @@FinancialCoachJess I’m a zero balance credit card person but have debt. If I use the cc to pay my bills then use my cash to pay off a debt(or pay down) I am deferring payment of my bills by 30 days to save a few dollars of interest. I just don’t understand why you’re comparing the debt snowball to velocity banking. It can all be done together. Velocity banking is just dumping your paycheck into which ever vehicle you’re using to decrease monthly interest. Whether you decide to do the debt snowball or start with the highest debt or the lowest debt or the highest interest rate versus the lowest interest interest rate. You would still use velocity banking either way.

    According to my mortgage companies' amortization schedule.... If I make a chunk payment of $5000 to my 2.99% interest rate mortgage ill save $7658.25 and 9 months of payments. The credit card I'll be using will charge me a 3% ($150) transfer fee and 0% interest for 12 months. I can easily pay the $5000 off before the card starts charging me interest on the $5000. I will easily recoup the transfer fee with the credit card sign up bonus and points, actually coming out ahead by a couple hundred dollars... I use the Snowball method in conjunction with Velocity banking...

    I am paid weekly, does that make any difference at all in putting this into practice?

    • @mary_mary777
      @mary_mary777 Před 5 dny

      @KCandthesunshine-k1f No, it doesn't matter when you get paid. Figure out what bills cannot be put on your credit card (rent, mortgage etc) and keep this money in your chequing account and pay those from there like you normally do. Then, with the rest of your money "park your paycheques" when you get paid weekly. This will satisfy your minimum monthly payment and you continue to put the rest of your expenses on the card throughout the month (gas, groceries etc). It is actually better to "park" smaller amounts throughout the month as credit card companies can lower your limit without notice if you were maxed out and consider you a risk. Hope this helps.

    Grace does notvwipe out consequences of our actions. Repentance is necessary to build back stronger. If he is a Christian he will do that with Gods help but he signed the contract and she did too. That is business in order to protect your niche, audience and brand. They knew this. Was Dave supposed to not move on the contract? Was he supposed to let all the gossip hurt his business while he had a contract, for a reason. I don't have to agree with the contract or decision to know it is binding and it is business. I am glad they tried to save the marriage but wish they had done something to soften her transition from employment and helped her too, but that does not require her staying employed. He isn't an enemy for making that choice. Itvis crazy to question his Christianity for trying to hold a standard for his brand.

  • @katrinaodegbesan7754
    @katrinaodegbesan7754 Před 2 měsíci

    I think my problem is that I have never been materialistic and don't let money rule me to the point I just have to have what I cannot afford. There is no way you can't live without credit. It was done before and I still do it today. I have the peace of mind. You are not born with credit. You have to get it and grow it to begin, so why are people so dumb to believe that they never really existed before credit? Because you have been told enough times to believe it! This only proves the points that he makes and I am very surprised to actually see it. But he says "live like no one else" for a reason. I just didn't know how relevant that statement is. Also, who would put their name on products and services after building an empire without getting paid for it and making sure those companies are in line with what he teaches? None of you would if you are smart. He didn't get there because he was dumb. It is never okay to get paid for it until it is you getting paid for it. Funny how jealousy shows it's face to knock a man down for his business deals when you didn't have the opportunity to make them. Crabs in a barrel who charge more for less to catch up with him is what I see.

  • @katrinaodegbesan7754
    @katrinaodegbesan7754 Před 2 měsíci

    The points raised do not make Dave wrong. It is a matter of discipline, and opinion. His program is about having no debt or using credit, so why all the comments about credit scores when you don't need them on his plan? The emergency fund examples speak to car problems or little emergencies that people have no savings for at all. So, what difference does it make if it is little if you never had the funds save anyway. It is a small start for a reason to dive into cutting debt without a little excuse to get something on credit. The people who don't like it are people who don't want change, which is why they are in debt to begin. Others monetize off of the fact that they won't get serious enough but will pay thousands to pay another coach to not push them as hard. Which is why they are in debt. Not everyone can do that and his program, literally everyone can do, and access for free. I know this because I used his books from the library and his website. He has no problem being consistent with his ideas free on his programs and radio broadcasts. I am only in debt because I kept being told I needed credit. I paid off debt before but struggled with other advice until deciding to follow Dave. It is my preference to not use credit and I shouldn't be shamed or called dump for that either. He is the only one to tell me I am right and how. I prefer that!

    People make this sound great but I actually tried it and my card is more maxed out than it was. Car trouble comes along other unexplained or emergency expenses come about and you have no cash it has to come out of the credit card. When you live paycheck to paycheck at least from my personal experience I don't recommend this unless you definitely have a good savings account that can cover your unexpected expenses so that you don't end up putting more on your credit card then you end up paying off

      Correct, this method requires 100% accuracy. I talk about that in another video which can be a huge pro or a huge con. I personally think making more money is easier!

    This is very similar to my scenario where I have been trying to make VB work for me, but when I ran the numbers, it just didn't work. I've already increased my income, but the increase in rents (my family's and my mother's apartment), food, and gas mostly, insurance premiums...etc. Everything is in a budget and accounted for. Housing for us is over 50% because we pay for my mom's apartment. Long story, but she has health issues and cannot work at 72 and never worked, or had any income. Here's what I observed about the VB channels and crowd. 1) They're quick to want to get a HELOC, which is a red flag to me. 2) A PLOC is doable, but when banks are closing CCs and reducing limits AND you don't have the extra savings to cover things like future month's bills, that's scary. I'm not putting anyone in that position to save a few $$ of interest. 3) They're not doing the math and seeing if VB is really a better choice, nor have I seen anyone who has a testimonial that it worked for them. In fact, the opposite, there was a popular VB channel that I followed, but she hadn't been heard from in 6 months. After around 8 months of watching videos on VB, I'm still not comfortable with parking my money in a PLOC or a CC without having a robust emergency fund. I'm a Christian and in the Bible, there is 5x more said about saving then there ever is about how bad debt is. I've been in debt before, and I'm in it now. I'd rather apportion more to Savings and my emergency fund and weather the storms, then take the time to make VB work for me, It's a lot of Admin. lol

      I highly recommend a high yield savings account for you in this case! I have mine at Discover and will earn $200 in interest this month! 👍🏻

      @FinancialCoachJess Před 2 měsíci

      Debt snowball is putting all of your free cashflow each month toward he debt with the smallest balance. Then when that is paid off, adding that minimum payment to your "snowball" and the amount gets larger over time as you pay off your debts this way

    Hey Jess! Can you give me a good tax advisor recommendation? I’m looking to become a financial coach and have found your videos, extremely helpful! Everyone says to form an LLC before you do anything, and I’m ready to, but I wanna make sure I’m setting it up correctly and forecasting my tax deduction Savings. Who do you use?
