Registrace 26. 08. 2020
Hailing all the way from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, my name is Marquise Mays, MA.
I received my M.A in Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Southern California in the School of Cinematic Arts. I completed by B.A in Journalism & Mass Communication alongside Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Through my work, I create a vivid and important venue for the exploration of “the robust identity of Blackness” in film, television, digital/online series, and the entertainment industry more broadly. My work presents a range of access points for participation in dialogues, theoretical deliberations, and creative enterprises related to Blackness in contemporary media spaces.

Voices
The story of Black Badgers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are often erased from the history of this institution. Voices, focus on the narratives of Black Badgers from 1969-1973. Capturing the political and institutional barriers that these students endured while fighting for primarily Black spaces, I hope that Voices inspires you to cultivate spaces that promote the expansive and diverse diaspora of Blackness.
