I always love the very musical playing of William Bennett.! I played many concerts with him and it was always a great experience. I am so terribly sorry that he is not with us anymore. Greatly missed all over the world.

Magnificent composition beautifully interpreted. There is obvious virtuosity, but also narrative and sublime tonalities. The effect is has on me is connect ideas across centuries. Thanks to the pianist for a model to play the non-traditional score. The essence of music!

It has been verified by Trevor Wye that Home Sweet Home is not Louis Drouet but composed by Charles Nicholson. Please correct if you can? Here is his e mail: Dear Friends, In March, 1817, two flute concerts were held at the Drury Lane Theatre in London within two weeks of each other. I should point out that 19th century flute 'recitals' were rare, players usually being invited to play pieces between a vocal soloist's arias. The two virtuoso flutists were Englishman Charles Nicholson and the Frenchman, Louis Drouet. Drouet was renowned for his rapid tongueing and extraordinary technique and Nicholson for his moving treatment of melodies. Many amateur and professional players attended these two events and the musical press was inundated with comments for weeks afterwards about the relative merits of each player. As the Programme Director of the BFS, I decided to reenact these two concerts at the BFS Convention at the RNCM in Manchester on the 31st August, 1990 and invited the French virtuoso, Maxence Larrieu and William Bennett to be the two soloists. I asked them both to agree on playing the pieces which I had chosen for them. The concert was called, A Grand Contest Concert. Amongst the works were Drouet's Variations on God Save The King, played by Larrieu and Nicholson't variations on Home Sweet Home played by Wibb. The two were accompanied by Clifford Benson. After some solos, the two flutists did play together at the end of the concert. It was one of the most memorable flute concerts I had ever heard. The concert was recorded and Wibb's Home Sweet Home was, at my request, played at his recent memorial concert. I will ask the BFS Council if they would please make the recording available to the public as it was a very memorable occasion. Trevor

The Louis Drouet Home Sweet Home ( Theme) selected by Trevor Wye, does anyone know where that comes from? I cannot trace it to any of Drouet's works? Thanks for any info.

Love Wibb's Haendel. His use of minimal Vibrato in Baroque Music was noticeable however he still coloured phrase ends with Vibrato. I see Clifford's Song for Wibb gets played here aswell. I am so lucky to own this sheetmusic signed by Wibb and Clifford.

I was lucky enought to have Masterclasses with Wibb and Clifford in South Africa many years ago. I remember playing Haendel and Cooke. Wibb did not like my version of the Haendel , cannot remember the Sonata now 9 but one I know Wibb had recorded) however loved the Arnold Cooke Sonatina. Clifford offcourse accompanied faultlessly.
