I don't think you're wrong at all; on the contrary I think Neil spent all of season 2 foreshadowing exactly that. Their "tiniest, most insignificant" miracle when working together was as powerful as the mightiest archangel's and the Metatron only manipulated their separation after they revealed they'd done it together. Now, personally I'm team #CrowleyWasOneOfTheMightiestArchangels because only the mightiest archangel would be able to create entire quadrants of universe or freeze people and resurrect them (Brown) with a casual snap of a miracle, much less freeze freaking Satan in time... So Crowley had to be a lot of the 25-Lazarii. BUT alone, freezing Satan in S1 took every ounce of his power and desperation and love, whereas together the two of them could have resurrected 25 people with their tiniest flow of power. If Jim is right and "The Dead Will Walk the Earth" in the Second Coming, imagine how many thousands or millions of Lazarii Crowley & Aziraphale could output (/people they could resurrect) working together AND dumping everything they both have into it. Also, keep in mind that Neil has only ever said that Good Omens is a love story and he's a master of words. While I think he'd better give Crowley and Aziraphale their personal HEA in the South Downs or face the wrath of millions of fans, I think he might very well mean exactly what you said, that the entire saga is actually a parable of love overcoming all. @@KnittinKitten1 Me too! Heard they will film next year. Am so excited. Also I have two theories on Metatron. Either he is evil and pulling a Lucifer. Trying to overthrow Heaven. That's why he is the only angel wearing black. Or. He is as he claims. Voice of God. He is testing Crowley and Aziraphale. See if their love is pure as God wants. Will they fight for each other, but also fight for humanity? Or give up when it gets too hard.

I bought into the obviousness of the camera angle/music cues when the Metatron glowers at Crowley and just assumed he's up to something evil... but a test is also a great theory! Maybe Neil can roll that back into there being an actual reason why God hasn't talked to anyone in so long, even throughout Armageddon? I've always found that an interesting rhetorical choice given how directly interactive She is In The Beginning. Unless She never gave Zira a hard time about the sword in Eden because She already knew he'd call it back at Armageddon and She's planned eeeevery last little detail. That might undercut the Free Will sub texts throughout the show, though. Gahhh there is just so much rhetorical analysis one can do on this for-all-intents-and-purposes "small" (short) book/show LOL. I love it!!
