    What is this stretch targeting - the muscle, the fascia, or the tendon? What is the mechanism of it helping trigger finger? Planning on combining these with the massages in your other trigger finger video.

    • @ForwardTherapy
      @ForwardTherapy Před 17 dny

      The passive movements are more to promote tendon glide without allowing the tendon to catch on the tunnel. It helps maintain soft tissue and joint mobility while you are trying to reduce the inflammation and using the hand differently

    Thank you! It is so hard to find a manual therapist. The physiotherapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists typically say that it's irreversible except for surgery, and I just don't believe that. Oh. interesting. I guess i don't have trigger thumb. My pain is in the next joint that is closer to my palm. Can that area be splinted? It isn't my bones that hurt, but something connecting on the underside (ligament/s tendon/s????) Do you happen to have any suggestions for that? I think I injured it when I was lifting a table and felt a little bit of a pop. It wasn't excrutiating by any means, but it has been very sore now for about 2 months since that time. Pressing a stapler, using a hand can opener, squeezing a condiment bottle--things like that cause a lot fo pain. i have no strength to grasp a jar or water bottle. Isn't that strange? Thank you.

    • @ForwardTherapy
      @ForwardTherapy Před měsícem

      The pain with trigger thumb is typically in that spot, that is where the inflammation is with a trigger thumb. The hallmark of trigger thumb is the catching/locking/clicking of the thumb when you bend and straighten the tip of the thumb.

    Thanks so much for this video. I'm not sure yet if I actually have a trigger finger --it's a preliminary diagnosis for now-- but these interventions seem help. Mine is in the index finger, and I've discovered that when it locks, if I squeeze something using my second finger and thumb, the index pops back open pain free. Otherwise it only opens with painful force. Any thoughts on why this trick I discovered works?
