Note: the name of this documentary is “Volcano!” (Subtitle: “Danger Zone”) and it was produced by Stuart Carter of Pioneer Productions for Channel 4 news in the UK and The Discovery Channel in the US and first aired in November 2000. A young Dr. Steve Sparks, who is by now a legendary and senior volcanologist, features in the documentary, along with many others. Dr. Sparks was actually quite disappointed with the “fearmongering” approach taken by this production, which is a perennial problem in many earth science documentaries made for mass media, and as he was the president of IAVCEI (International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior, a professional/academic organization of volcanologists and related disciplines) at the time, and probably was concerned for how this documentary and his participation in it would reflect on him, IAVCEI, and volcanologists as a whole, he actually wrote an article about it in IAVCEI News 2001 No. 2. Stuart Carter then replied with a defense of his program in the number 3 issue that year. PDFs of the exchange can be found online if you Google-it is an interesting topic and discussion. On a side note, I am very glad you chose to leave in the very Y2K commercial break in the middle of the video…makes me very nostalgic! What a very particular time that was, 😂, in the style of television productions and media, as well as in society in general.
The history in the dirt before 1980 they knew what it could do. No way they didn’t know. They’ve seen this all over the world.

The biggest the landslide ever recorded... the hot air inside and pressure could not hold back and the champanebottle exploded... over 700 mph reached the blastcloud it was so fast and silent... jim skymanky first heard nothing but sudden it was like train rouring towards him, he was the only surviving looger out of 4. Like pelee 1902 it blowed out horizontal... kicked an enorm Areal to non living, 57 people lost their lives... it was one of the most dangerous place in 1980 to be. Still the vulcano is dangerous, because on the inside an new magmadome forms. In some 50 or more years the mountain will be form like he was in 1980 and will mabye erupt like this kind.
From here in the States we say Bravo for this production as it is very professionally presented and very informative! The very best of luck to you!
