Could you also replace the buttons?
Hi! Can you tell me, what is the height of switch? 4.3 mm or 5 ? I want to replace mine. Thank you!
What Is the Liquid You use for clean the switchs? Isopropyl Alcohol?
Was hoping to see a desolder/replacement.. ya know, an actual repair. 😅
Hey bro what speakers are you using they sound huge. Like dayum bro. Are u using and IR or stock cabs? I’m trying to get my setup to sound better. I think my speakers are the weak spot. I have cali audio lp-8’s and a pod go. Which uses the same modeling as the helix.
It’s not that it’s difficult, but there’s so much, this is my 3rd day with the helix, I don’t feel lost but still looking things up.
Hello bro, One question, why do we also record our guitar? Wouldn't it be enough to use the original signal and obtain the equalization curve from it?
Many thanks this is a very useful video, did the repair this morning, given 3 foot switches were bouncing and unusable My Helix dates back to 2016 and well out of warranty, so not an awful lot to lose. I took the time to tape up switch regions as well and used a electrical contact cleaner spray from Amazon. Hints =---= 1). Take a photo before disassembly. 2). Loosen all screws 2 turns before going back taking them out. 3). When putting the screws back in, do not tighten before all screws are in place. 4). Be careful around those two units on either side of the switches, they are the LED's. This cured the problem for the time being..... Look forward to playing every day for the next 8 years.
I didn’t understand what is your amp and if you go into the amp through input in
You don't mention anything about the hold or decay functions...
Ok, but what most of us are interested is how does it sound through the speaker

Same issue here. Latest firmware, other midi devices send expression pedal CC just fine, tried multiple DAWs, cables, etc. Plugged in other expression pedals into Midi Captain, same issue. It's definitely the Midi Captain itself. I'm going to email support.
I have the same issue...they say they fixed in firmware 3.5 but nah...the did not
how can i pass for EXP1 to EXP2 on the display?
Is that 46 & 2 by Tool, the bass riff ur playing at the beginning? Lol
Se puede desactivar los amp? Y trabajar solo con IR?
I've got the same Issue with 2 switches... I am a little afraid to open this thing up. But your Video helped me alot. I maybe should give it a try soon. :)
inB4 "but muh quad cortex!"
I’ve been gigging and cranking mine since 2015. Recently I decided to buy a small interface for running a guitar and mic into Logic Pro X and realized the Helix also does that job with no problem. When you factor in everything the Helix does, it’s by far the most inexpensive musical product I’ve ever bought.
How’s it battery powered?
Underneath the board is a Boxking BK05 powering the Stomp and DMC.micro. There is a USB power pack powering the Relay G10, making the board completely battery powered fro up to 4 hours.
Sir, I’m using DMC3 and I wonder is there any pacific midi cable to use cuz I can only preset up and down. I cannot access more into my Hx stomp
No, just a MIDI cable. Refer to the manuals for specifics on how to use the DMC with the Stomp. The micro was a bit tricky but once i got it sorted it was sent and forget.
Thank you Very clear info
Hi Alex, this video is super helpful! My question is, have you revisited this technique in tone captures off of isolated guitar tracks and discovered anything new that works better?
Alex, if you can create me an EQ-matched, high quality IR of Metallica’s “Through the Never” guitar tone I’ll love you forever❤. The first 6 or 7 sec of the song is only James’ guitar, which is this tone I’m after buddy! I know it shouldn’t take you more than 20 min to knock it out, but you’re the master at this! Thanks again bro, think of it as a Christmas present for me ;)
lol, i actually did this with that exact song a while ago. check the metallica black album folder here: bit.ly/aktonematch
@@alex-kenivelis it called BAIR.wav ??
Thank you for explaining this man 🤘🏻
Hi, I have a helix floor with this problem: it loses the input signal, the signal goes in fits and starts, the symbol on the input display flashes red, then it starts working again for a while, sometimes it works for hours and then repeats the problem. Lately it also crashes, meaning the large display turns off and all the small displays start flashing. What could it be? I was thinking about the power supply, thanks for any response
okay, sounds like two separate issues. Input issue-- try different cables. Try those cables in something other than Helix to rule out the cables. Crashing issue - those can usually be remedied by reinstalling the current firmware and following the instructions to the T: Make a backup, reflash (reinstall) firmware, factory reset, reload backup, power cycle off/on again to finally rebuild presets. Hope these help. Feel free to get back to me if not.
@@alex-kenivel Thanks for the reply, so the pedalboard, as I wrote, works very well and has been updated, everything is fine but every now and then it crashes, everything flashes like a Christmas tree, then after an hour of turning it off and on again it starts playing again. I don't want there to be capacitor problems on the power supply board
@@Moreno280161 I still recommend reflashing the current firmware even if it is up to date, most problems like this tend to go away after a firmware flash with the proper steps. I'm almost certain it isn't a hardware issue or the problems would be more consistent.
When the isolated guitar sample or the original song is stereo, don't you need to make the stereo guitar mono first? is it ok to work with the stereo signal for tone matching?
It can be okay to use a stereo source, I find it better to work with a single source to get more accurate results.
Very nice video bro! but... why the resolution is so badddd...?
I'm more of an audio guy. Still trying to figure all of this video stuff out.
Sir can i ask for your preset for wah
Of course. I know it's the Fassel with the range extended and the mix lowered to about 77%. I'll get back to you with the exact deets when I can.
Okay, so Fassel wah, FC Low @ 394Hz, FC High @ 2kHz, and Mix varies -- for direct tones its set at 77% most of the time, 64% in front of my MT15, real low at like 33% if after a Fuzz. Level 0.0 dB
Alex cab you send me your preset please, i wanted to maximize my rig as well
@workingclassguitarist8538 ahh man, i dont have this iteration of this preset anymore. I have some similar ones that share the same amp model and snapshot staging but nothing else is the same -- In fact I don't really use this physical setup anymore either. I've since build myself a larger board with a larger MIDI controller and a few more pedals
Here's a similar preset. Same amp, uses a different IR, fuzz. Pay attention to output panning instructions: line6.com/customtone/tone/6198153/
Which are the dual footswitches that you use?
On this board I've got the Disaster Area DCM.micro MIDI controller and the Mosky Dual Footswitch
Damn this is conflusing. Like a coding class...
Yeh, it can be for sure. You can get as complicated as you want but also as simple as you want. Feel free to ask questions.
I paid £150 for a mk1 100watt Combo , its now my main gigging amp, the JVM 100 stays home
A great tool is the gumtown Floorboard. It allows you to create custom Chains, so you can put any effect in any location. The other thing it has, aside from all the ‘sneaky’ amps, is hundreds of preconfigured patches. I’m loving this amp
I think it also has some extra parameters for some of the FX too. It's been a while since I've used it. Maybe I didn't take the time to learn it properly but I found it unintuitive and confusing. I enjoy the Librarian app because Tone Studio itself is often slow
There is also the Katana Librarian for Android. Access to two EQ blocks, without having to use up the Mod or Fx blocks. Another tip is to use a looper and loop a guitar riff into the amp. That way, you can tweak away without having to play (until your final tweaks for feel and response).
Why can't I get the helix floor's expression pedal to go to 0 in the heel position, it only goes to 8. How is it calibrated?
How old is your unit? Mine had the same issue and I ended up replacing the washers because they were pretty worn out on my unit from 2017. Check this thread on the forum for more info about that washer replacement = line6.com/support/topic/55856-replacement-washers-for-helix-exp-pedal/ Other than that, there is is a boot up procedure that runs a test on all of the encoders, buttons, footswitches and the expression pedal. Hold down FS4 and FS5 while powering in your unit to run the diagnostic. Hope this helps.
Do you have any knowledge of Helix thru DT25 and channel switching using A for clean and B for metal? Thx for any help!
You have the option to use the L6 link or a MIDI cable. MIDI CC19 selects between channel A/B. a value of 63 or LOWER recalls channel A and a value of 64 or HIGHER recalls channel B. CC66 at ANY value will act as a toggle. If I wanted an A/B Stomp switch on a Helix I'd use the toggle (CC66) command. If I wanted the channels to be recalled per preset or snapshot I'd use CC63, which you can set as Instant Commands (the lighting bolts in command center) for when you change presets/snapshots. Hope this helps. Hit me back if you run into trouble.
Thank you so much I’ll try this!!! If I could bother you with one more question? Can I change the voicing and topology with an instant lighting bolt in the snapshot? Like from voicing 1 triode to voicing 2 pentode? I appreciate your time and response more than you know!
@@bloodcovered777 You can. Details are in this manual: line6.com/data/6/0a06434df0f650914b2056015/application/pdf/DT%20Amplifier%20MIDI%20Implementation%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf CC122 Value 0-3 = Ch A Voice 1-4 Value 4-7 = Ch B Voice 1-4

잘 배워갑니다 ^^
Thx for the detailed Infos. Good to know that, before wondering why it's not working correct
This might be a Godsend for me. I have been having buttons not responding property for quite some time. They aren't dead, but they are sometimes requiring more push or even registering a double when I push too hard (meaning they turn on but then off again.) If they are just gunked up and dirty this could work for me, too. Thanks for the video, Alex! As a gigging musician who has played everywhere both inside and outside (in the cleanest and nastiest places) it's safe to say that this could very well be the diagnoses and your approach would very well be the right fix for me.
But connecting my Helix using the Editor do I still need to use a Midi cable or can the HX Edit use the USB cable to change through a Daw like Reaper ? Just wondering if the Midi cable is a MUST have to change patches.
You seem to be conflating a few things. HX Edit is simply an editor for the Helix hardware. MIDI commands can be sent/received via USB without a MIDI cable to a DAW like Reaper but HX Edit isn't involved in the process. In Reaper preferences under the MIDI section, you need to ENABLE the Helix hardware as a MIDI device, and set up a track's Inputs to receive MIDI via the Helix. Changing patches like in a software VST using Helix? Not sure I understand completely but I hope this helps.
@@alex-kenivel yes, I tried looking for the Helix after turning on the Midi/USB option, I guess I need to look deeper.
Cool❤
Amazing tip bro, thanks!
Love your setup! Sounds really good with how good you play too! I'm doing it very similar with the mt-15 through a 2x12 cab loaded with a celestion hempback and an eminence cannabis rex. 4 cable method through the helix.
I've found with my Katana Artist MK2 I cut the 16khz by -6 db and that really helped with the harsh bitiness of the amp.
Thank you very much!!!
my dude, how did you get that filter sound when is says Asheville pattern on screen? I am trying to find new things to do on my Helix as well, and couldn't figure out how to get this sound. help a brother out! :)
Asheville Pattern is under the filter FX section
Thanks man. For the life of me I can’t get the Asheville pattern to sound as tight as yours. Could you give me some pointers on settings? Should it go before or after the amp or before after a stop box ? All I can get is like this strange tremolo where it cuts the note out. Whatever settings you’re using is delicious though. Thanks for any help by the way!
@@DravenZord It's been a long time, but I just pulled up the blocks on my stomp. Deluxe Compressor, Bighorn Fuzz, Pitch Ring Mod (i had those all saved as Favorites), Asheville Pattern at default settings just the Rate bumped up a little bit. Running into the front of a squeaky clean Katana. The EQ I was using in the video was most likely sucking out some low mids.
@@alex-kenivel Alex, my man, thank you for taking the time to respond again. I REALLY appreciate that. I'll give this a shot. I was like ripping my hair out trying to get that effect to sound cool.
@@DravenZord lol youll get there! It's not like a sat down and curated these settings, i kind of just drop things in, maybe twist a few things to taste and hope for the best.
I clicked in the video just to hear what's the amp is about, I watch until the end because I like your playing!
Fine presentation sir, really helpful, appreciate the time spent sharing this
Sweet trem work!
great video. for some reason my IR sounds like a reverb
Try the tutorial by the CZcamsr rr Rico
take the convolved file, the impulse response that sounds like a click and truncate the tale shortly after the initial burst. basically the main click represents the frequency and phase response and everything after represents reflections.
