Thank you so much❤
Does anyone know the equipment he’s playing. The Haydn sounds like an flat to me but then sometimes sounds like a rotary (I can’t imagine that cadenza on rotary being that clean)
Sou do Brazil, descendentes de Italiano.. ( Lucca, Italy )Hoje faço uma macarronada escutando está relíquia.. Salve a Europa!
Thank you ❤
Viva la Inglaterra católica!! Viva Cristo Rey!!
I listen to chant when I am fly fishing.
1994. I had to save every penny for a month to buy this, which I think was about 50 bones in a music store outside of Detroit. I saved enough about a week before my buddy, which lit me up because he made better money than me and was always grabbing the best stuff first.
It's interesting that the voices largely follow the same line but have small breaks away from each other. You can see how this really is a transition to polyphony.

39:50 highlight Domingo aria. Wow
I had not listened to this in years. lt got better! What incredible music! Domingo is so vibrant! l saw Marton in Turandot. She blew the back of the theater out!
The tenor aria at circa 1:00:00 is sublime. Why isn't it better known?
How l wish there was English CC
THAT WAS AMAZING
Possibly my favorite song ever
I love the spirit of Kunjan Sabakui!
This guy, Jerry Schwarz, is one bas-ass trumpet player. I’m good at it, but he is a genius.
I mean, he’s a bad-ass trumpet player. Y’all can’t deny that. I lived in Seattle for three years while he was up there. I never once got to see him with the Seattle Symphony. Of that, I was pissed. I played for a suburb community symphony, and I really wanted to go see him at least conduct.
Je ne connaissais pas cette version.. je la decouvre avec enchantement.. quelle distribution !! Un rêve.!!je dois absolument trouver cet enregistrement..
I saw this opera once, and in that day, a kid in front of my seat asked to his parents to go home because he was afraid I guess...
Was it young Bruce Wayne?
Why is this version so damn hard to find???/
This was on the cassette single. I used to have it.
Bella Musica que alegra el alma 6 cuerdas en madera pegada con cola y sale estas bellas melodias Amen Viva la Musica de Guitarra
It's my favourite opera. Beautiful melodies and so many emotions. The finale never fails to give me goosebumps.
I don't remember it being this good. I've got goosebumps, too!
Can anyone find the names to some of the music featured here especially the last one
bats frighten me. its time the world shares my dread
Bumping this for Mayday.
Saw Ramey sing this in NYC twice in the '80s. Unfortunately, I never got to see Norman Treigle. But with Ramey, you certainly get the complete package: stunning voice, brilliant acting, the perfect combination of contempt, arrogance, and subservience, and undeniable seduction and temptation. Domingo recorded this with each of them. And Caballe or Marton certainly hold up the female leads. This is the first opera I ever really got hooked on back in my teens thanks to an older friend. I've seen it and listened to it so many times now, it's hard to imagine that I didn't always know it. Now that I live in Ann Arbor instead of NYC, I hope the Detroit Opera Company stages it so I can take my son to see it. I love seeing Puccini, especially BUTTERFLY and TURANDOT. Along with Mefistofele, however, my favorite opera is Strauss' SALOME.
I’m awed and inspired.
L'opera più sottovaluta della storia...
Direttore straordinario! Ovviamente ottimi gli interpreti ma mi soffermo sul superbo interprete caratterista che era Sergio Tedesco, con lui diventano grandi i piccoli ruoli, alla stregua di de Palma, Mercuriali, Ercolani ecc…
This is a treasure I come back to often, as many others have shared. The section starting at 9:32, with Takemitsu's sublime music, brings tears to my eyes.

awesum
A magnificent performance of a magnificent opera. An opera that should be in the top ten, not sadly neglected.
La storia?
♥️🎼🍇
The best ! Conmueve el Alma, Eleva el espíritu
Grandiosa !!!
Genial
The only recording to have is with Tebaldi, who sings like one inspired, plus Seipi and Del Monaco conducted by Serafin. Nothing to touch it.
That was the first recording I owned. It's great. But I think you're underrating this and the Treigle, Domingo, Caballe recordings.
What a delight, Anonymous 4 were a truly harmonious group. (I laughed at the silly advert about prayer which has nothing to do with Anonymous 4 - one does not have to any faith to appreciate fine singing and music.)

I saw the debut of this at the NYC Opera Lincoln Center on Yom Kippur 1972(?). I was blown away by the opera, the staging and Ramey. I have seen it numerous times since. It is amazing. The first time, the standing ovations lasted almost 45 minutes. People went crazy when Ramey did back flips off the stage at the end. I conduct an orchestra and this is one of my all time favorite finales!!! Thank you for postig
You mean Norman Treigle - Ramey didn't sing it in 1972.
Yes, you are right. Ramey came later. 72 is a long long time ago. @@Twentythousandlps
actual back flips? 😲
Best album set ever created. Anyone who experienced this in the 1990’s and lost that four-pack cd will always be looking for it 😁💋😘🙏🏾
There is a monument to Chief Tecumseh in Thamesville Ontario where he died in battle. He wanted his people and culture to be allowed to continue on, in the face of US/CAN colonialism.
Came back to listen again to remind me of the beauty that humans can create, rather than dwell on the mayhem of the times.
I have been aware of this recording for some time but I already had the EMI recording with Domingo and Caballe and Treigle which includeds some of the finest music in the opera, e.g., the duet for Faust and Marguerite, Marguerite's lovely aria. The the Sony executives lop off this music? I can only suggest that lovers of this opera who would like to hear some of Boito's most inspired music listen to the EMI recording--I believe it is on You Tube.

Thank you so much for this upload. I had the pulse of life cd when i was young , maybe you have it? Cant find it anywhere. Great album.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing🙏
Proof that Boito was a much, MUCH better librettist than composer, "L'atra notte" notwithstanding. Apropos of that, who was Tobio Gorria?
I have this CD, bought it about 18 years ago. I play it in the car every Christmas. No, it's not traditional Christmas music in our sense. But it certainly puts you in the mood for Midnight Mass.
