My focus is Nalbinding and Viking Reenactment. You can find several videos with Nalbinding tricks and live videos where we cover both Nalbinding and my Viking life. What is Nalbinding? Nalbinding is a bronze-age fiber technique that pre-dates knitting and crochet. They construct similarly, but Nalbinding consists of knots which makes the end result extremely durable. I work in Viking Valley, Gudvangen Norway and wear many hats there; one of which is a textile craftsman.

@@hollydawnhewlett9255 I just love it when Leila comes to stay! 💙💜♥️🧡💛💚
Bilum is a protected word for Papua-New Guinean tradition of nålbinding. Only PNG peoples can make Bilum. Most PNG stitches are met elsewhere as are bags, which is usually the item Bilum is referred to. Bilums have nothing to do with Australia or Africa. Some Australian native peoples have Dilly bags, which some are nålbound. I can't remember any nålbound bags from Africa, but there are several traditions from South America.
@@knittingwithnele I KNEW you’d be perfect for clearing this one up! ❤️❤️❤️
That last blow was really 'fencetastic' Karl ;‐)
@@jayvonaltengart9297 hahah!!! ❤️❤️
Can we have the link to Holgers slave trading channel? Utube has hidden it well :O
It should be in the description: czcams.com/video/uYzZHCa4gPA/video.html
Vegemite or Marmite both delicious
Brilliant!!!
Grzegorz always have great jewelry
I forgot it was Saturday
Karls hat is the bomb!!
I think that boat looks like an old polaroid camera...
I prefer to wind on a nostepinne, then use the center pull nest to ply from both ends, to a plying bracelet.
I'm here now. Was at an all day SCA event. Won't be able to watch next weekend either. We have a three day SCA event 😊
Another attempt by the western civilizations to colonize the natives by giving them addictive sugar. 😂😂😂
I am SO proud of Karl 🍺😅👍 When you pulled out the pink can I read 'Lutefisk' at first glance and my german heart skipped a beat😂
Haahah white resedue. Made me want to spill candles too 🤣🤣. Also i need the penis glass 🤣🤣🥳
I was just at the cigarettes store and the man working there saw my wallet which I nalebind and he said he mother makes shirts like that. They r from Iraq and he knew about the nalbind camel muzzles. This is in Cali. Small world I guess 😊 I guess it brought back good memories cuz he had this huge smile on his face.
Dangit! I was busy getting my work truck ready! Hope all is well!
I am watching! When a viking seeks excuses in his dishwasher you know (that he knows) you have a point in what you say! Clean and rinse😁👍
There's nothing tame about Karin 😂😂😂
Viking Nalbinding !
Bit of both! ❤️ (and maybe an orc or two…. 🙈)
Toronto is twenty hours from me.
I was at the fun day fair and I'm doing an African viking knit stitch with a darning needle
How interesting! Is it a Bilum stitch with tape?
Seriously. I've been trying for days. After watching you, it finally clicked what I was getting wrong.
Dangit! I just missed you!!❤
hi from Southern California this week.

☑UPDATE 14.05.24 ☑: Anne Marie Decker has updated her Nalbinding blog and included her findings regarding the ¨Dublin Stitch¨. -Which is not what I´m doing in this video. Check it out and watch for a future tutorial video from her: nalbound.com/2024/05/14/now-dublin-fragment-e1907430/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1NWBlPhh83NJSHFG09nDPifbDNhh7lMn0erW7xQScKz7T5Nzbk396VtA4_aem_AdVcDE7gxn0uDdylyTMgJFsbF2odTSpyKkbR1aywRZO-Jx5z6QVndXjm20-ewDAMK4QudGCpi-g7EeRFa-pyDYAC It´s really interesting! ♥
Also, glass is warm..
Thank you for such a fantastic time!!
Awesome to see your smiling faces!!
Catching the replay today 😊
How would you go about repairing a hole in your fabric? No buttonhole needed. Your work is so precise that you’d never have this problem!!!
Good to hear that Karl is finally listening to me😂
Celeriac
Interesting place.
It's like living in a postcard ♥
Filet crochet sounds right
What part of US are you from? I don’t notice any regional accent.
Aw! Sometimes it sticks out, sometimes it does't :) I'm originally from Duluth, Minnesota
Careful with ‘expert - X is an unknown quantity and a spirt is a drop under pressure! ❤
Northern BC Canada ❤
Wecome to Norway!
Dalarna is one of my favorite stitches. Also, Rune is cute.
Rune is adorable! Like a teddy bear!
I told Karl to rinse the glass before pouring beer into it. Solves the foam problem! We will have to talk about that again in july😉
Haha!! Yes you did!! Definitely need to revisit that one! 😂😂
Watching at 1:45am sat up with the newborn. I have a backlog to catch up on! You and Karl are my babysitters when I need the loo 😁
Hahah! I love it! 😍😍
Were the Icelandic sheep and horses there when the Vikings came or did they bring them from Norway
Where is the nailbinding?
Heya- Just skip ahead til you see yarn. In this one, the Nalbinding comes in at about minute 30:15
Greetings everyone! I spent the day at the dam and despite slathering myself in sunscreen, wearing a hat and staying in the shade I am turning lobster red!
Summer is coming here too! :O
The "Dublin Stitch" conversation resurfaces a few times a year and I was incorrectly tagged to an image which is what I'm doing in the video. I don't know where the photo originates from, but it appears to be tatting... which has an overlap with nalbinding. In the video, I'm using an F1 connection, but more has surfaced and the connection may actually be "right to left" around the post from the previous row.. This is why I have to be quite clear in stating that the video "is a guess. " But! Good news! Anne Marie Decker (www.youtube.com/@annemariedecker6295 ) will feature the Dublin stitch in one of her upcoming blog posts because she has researched the fragment and I can't wait to see what she has to say
Maybe this stitch will be perfect for making hair nets, yknow the one where the lunch lady wears when serving it to students at school.
Haha! It would work!! And the lunch lady would totally rock it <3
I like this one…hair scrunches.
Hehe! You see it too!! 🤩
@@kbyomI’m not sure if it’s accurate when it comes to fragments or from other sources like in one of the videos such as Bruni which her nalbinding is pretty interesting, but if you can see yvla the red,it might be limited since York and Oslo/Lund would be shown. Apparently this stitch might a rare hybrid between danish stitch and buttonhole or simple loop stitch.
@@MaxxSmiledog.jpg1998 I think its Emma's page that I'm incorrectly linked to, but it would definitely be something Emma would do. She seems to prefer the netting stitches and this one is one of them. According to her photo,. the stitch matches the photo, but there's no connection row in it. Later, another photo surfaced and the connection is "right to left" around the previous post.
