8 Preseason Games is 4 too many in my opinion BUT we take what we can get.

I remember when the pre season games were played in neutral cities. I live in Ontario and remember going to watch the Oilers vs Leafs at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. I wish they did that still. In Ontario and Western Canada, Quebec all have Junior rinks that hold like 4-6 thousand people with a few holding much more. Gives fans a chance to see a game in a more intimate settings. Am I the only one wh thinks 7-8 year extensions for anyone other then players coming off a first year contract is nuts? I'd give Leon 4-6 year with 6 MAX. Look at all the teams in trouble with the cap who have several 7-8 year contracts.. San jose (before the sell off and rebuild) and Seattle come to mind. Leon is my favorite player on the Oilers but yeah... just my .02

Leon ROCKS! He's easily the most unique, 🦄-esque player in the league and it's not close. He gives you elite level goal scoring, elite level playmaking, elite level passing, elite level point production, elite level playoff point production, elite puck protection and an elite shot. My favorite player.😊

Now he can cruise through the motions and cruise to a great payday and save up for a good life post NHL Career. Better than breaking his back and mind for one hopeful, yet unlikely championship. What's more appealing?? Exactly!!

I trust Shaugger a LOT more than Stauffer. Stauf's "job" includes "Spin Doctor" and "Fan Ativan" (Ativan is a medication used to calm those that suffer from panic attacks or stress). He's supposed to keep them hyped without being over hyped, spin decisions to sound good for the team and support the team in any other way possible (designated sacrifice in the event of charging Bengal tiger, that sort of thing cuz God Knows he can't outrun it). I was wondering why the contract negotiations would be happening during McDavid wedding week, since Leon was in the wedding. There were so many activities planned around the wedding that coherent conversations about contracts could not have happened. Guests weren't even allowed to have their phones at the ceremony . Credit Leon with the sense to not upset the new Mrs. McDavid.👰🏼‍♀️ Please don't be disappointed or worried, Patrick. Leon was playing on Connor's team this past week. 😊

I didn’t even realize that Carrick was coming back. They have a plethora of forwards, just need to find the right balance within the cap.

I love that Draisaitl is coming back for the long term, but the AAV will ensure we are no better than this past year in 2026-2027. This ensures that we will have to let Arvidsson and Skinner go when they become free agents. I am very disappointed about this. I had hoped that we would be in the 10-11M range so we had some cap space left for Skinner and Arvidsson. If Draisaitl gets 13-14M/season, I expect McDavid will sign in the 15-16M range. Between those two pay raises, that is the salary of those two new top 6 forwards gone to the two top stars. This guarantees that if we don't get the cup next year we never will :-(.

So.. more speculation, whoomp!

I wish I could see this as good news. If our Oilers win now, Bowman gets credit. To me it'll feel like winning via cheating and not getting caught. I ain't gonna be excited or happy for the organization

Gotta say, if the number is $14 or less, I would consider that a fairly friendly number for Draisaitl to accept. He could possibly get a little more elsewhere, perhaps even $15 for 7, but considering he has been arguably under paid for these past 8, to take $14 or lower, would certainly show that he wants to stay and try to win in Edmonton. It's a ton of cap space, ya, but he has earned it. He is a workhorse, and point producer. So, I hope these rumors are true, and he stays on that contract. 🍻

Good deal for both. The first 4 or 5 years of the deal he'll at least achieve it, probably overachieve. The last 4 to 5 years are break even or a little below maybe but it's a balancing act and the money works. Take care all.
