HPDE With My Dad - Waterford Hills - May 23, 2021

I got my dad, a lifelong car addict, to do a road course open track day with me. It was a beautiful day in Michigan at Waterford Hills Raceway. My 2015 Mustang GT track toy and his 2017 Audi A4 sport (6-speed Manual). This was his first HPDE and he was pretty nervous at the possibility of crashing his rare special-ordered manual trans Audi.

Fix for 2015 Mustang GT oil in intake at track days.
zhlédnutí 198Před 3 lety
Ford updated the driver's side valve cover to correct oil filling your air intake during extreme G corning on a road course. This is just for 2011-2017 Coyotes and some early Voodoos, not for 2018-2021 Gen 3 motors. The new part number: Valve Cover - Ford (KR3Z-6582-C) I recommend still running a catch can on the passenger side but you might not need one on the driver side anymore.

you dont need 3 degrees of camber to run 305's up front.
@@paulmarino8810 good for you
Great video. I just bought a 2019 GT PP1. What a great value for the money. I'm hoping some day I'll be able to take it to a track. I can tell it has a tendency of understeer.
before the track you will need an oil-pan-upgrade. Canton, Moroso, or GT500.
Smart driving - something goes wrong - good drivers know to get off the track and get on the grass.
Does it fee; heavier than say more nimble GR86?
On track, honestly, the size and weight disappear. This is a VERY modified Mustang though.
@@TiberiusBurnside I am in market for a fun car mostly for errands and drops kids to school. No racing or going on tracks. Which one do you suggest - GR86 or Mustang? I already have Highlander as my primary car.
That looks so good!! I need this in my life! Thank you.
Is your car lowered as well?
It is. Eibach pro-kit springs.
Are you running spacers on the rear as well?
no
My question was, I've built other years. But this will be my first 2015 or newer period I'm really looking to push it a little bit and get the biggest in there that I could fit without problems with just a one inch eibach lowering...I don't bees 305 in front, but I was thinking 285 30 20 front and 315 or 335 30 rear Just looking for your input because you've done it already and. I don't want to jump into something blind
285F and 305R is the way to go then.
How much does one wheel and tire weigh?
Definitely a must for all cars. Baffled oil pan. Should be a factory mod on all cars if you ask me. Sorry dude. What a bummer.
How does a rebuild engine like this cost?
Any videos on you guys connecting the wiring around the transmission. Long story short I got screwed over by someone that I thought was a friend after I spun a rod Bering and they were supposed to finish everything I ended up having to send the motor to get built by someone else and I’m trying to put everything back in my self. And I can’t figure out the wiring.
hmmm, maybe I can make a video about that
@@TiberiusBurnside that would help a lot I can’t find anything on it.
Did your 19x11 wheels fit with the stock fenders or are you running spacers for brake clearance?
czcams.com/video/_O8zodrGwqA/video.html
Solid build. I prefer NA motors myself as I don't like the extra weight of boost on the front end.
real good driving man!!!
You just answered my dilemma
Is that the voodoo or the coyote I hear?
a modified Coyote
Hi, which OBD reader are you using to pull the data ?
This video (all the sweet data overlaid) was made with the App "RaceChrono Pro". My phone connects to: camera - Osmo Action gps receiver - QStarz BL-1000GT data from the car - OBDLink MX+
Still stock mt82?
It is. I do have a MGW shifter and run BG fluids. www.opmustang.com/store/c3/TRANSMISSION_-_DRIVELINE.html#/
where did you get the rear disks rotors at ?
Front and rear rotors are from Steeda.
If you were to pick one mod that you considered helped with the front flatlines of the s550 and make it more confidence inspiring what would that be?
Get rear IRS lockouts first.Then... Springs, Struts and swaybars all work together. You'll get the best results doing them all together (if you have MagneRide Suspension this all gets more complicated).
@@JeffreyLBennett awesome I appreciate that input. I don’t have manga ride I think it came out 2018 and after.
Hi new follower here who is looking to make my 2017 more track oriented. Great detailed short to the point video. I did notice that you recommend adding spacers to fit the tires and they’re not hub centric. I thought that was a big no especially for track cars?
I don’t recommend anything. To have a rotatable set of 305’s you need longer studs and spacers. Do so at your own risk. I run 25mm that are hubcentric. Your other option is 2 different offsets. www.opmustang.com/store/c2/WHEEL_STUDS__-HUBS-__SPACERS_AND_TIRE_ACCESSORIES.html#/

I appreciate your videos. From Jackson and I love driving at Waterford hills. Quite a way behind you with an unaltered 2017 GT PP I’ve had for a few years now. Your content is answering key questions as I plan my upgrades. Hope to see you at the track!
That's awesome ROB! See you trackside.
@@TiberiusBurnside Can I ask; what did you do to get rid of the hood flutter with the OEM hood at high speed? It looks like yours is pretty solid. Anything over 90 and mine looks like it’s gonna let lose.

Hey Loren, next time you see me at a track say hi!
We’re you “heel-toe downshifting”? Just curious
I have an auto-blip.
Awesome. I have a 2020 pp1 with 3300 miles I want to take to a HPDE next year. I'll probably run 2 days most. I'm planning on bringing an extra set if brake pads just incase but I'm hoping the factory ones will make it. I'd imagine the michelin 4s tires should hold up as I probably won't be very fast. Any other tips I should think of before my first time? It's a stock car aside from Steeda progressive springs and the bmr stage 2 cradle lockout kit. The track is 3 states away so I'm doing tons of research beforehand. Thank you!
I'd get TRACK PADS (Gloc), catch cans, a helmet, and travel tools. Be patient and slowly dial up the speed all day.
@Tiberius Burnside just installed a catch can today. Yep I need to get a helmet also.

Such a cool place
I got s550 2015 2.3l can I go a little wider tires on front and back using factory rims? My tires size right now are 255/40/19

Yes, this was my first time at this track and the instructors recommended it. I’ve been back to Waterford hills MANY times since and use 2-3-4… though my fastest lap is just 3-4.
I was out there that day. Nice car, looked good hauling ass out there.
Say hi next time.
Great driving. How do you like the RT660?
THESE ARE THE TIRES. RT660 have insane grip and feedback. Love them. 10/10
Dumb question. Do you think you could beat something like a civic type r on that circuit which does not seem to have very long straights ?
CTR is a great track car out of the box. I'm guessing an experienced driver could get 1:20 or 1:19 out of it at Waterford hills.
