The one game I've never uninstalled
I should really play this again... I can't even remember which i bought first now, terraria or this, and they are both absolute treasures to my library. I would not be a pc gamer without this and terraria, that is clear. I can only imagine how crazy the modding scene has gotten over the many years i've left it dormant, as well. I remember I used to run a randomizer mod for your ship, which changed every aspect of it basically, from crew, equipment, and systems alongside subsystems. That was fun, even though I was mainly looking for it to generate something broken for me to use at the time lol.
Try it again. FTL hyperspace is basically a brand new game with the sheer variety it adds
This is a comfort game for me, mainly because of the music. I sometimes listen to it too while working.

Yeah its getting old
Damn 4 enemies teleported to the ship so early on is crazy. Seems really unfair, although I think you kind of got unlucky getting it so soon. That being said you made a big goof by running to the front of the ship (not sure what your reasoning was; maybe that if they got to the cockpit they'd have control of the ship?). Had you just stayed in the medbay it would have be "no problem" (not as big of a problem. You wouldn't have lost the precious/vital crew).
