Fun fact: The title "Cliffhanger" was originally used in the 1983 Stern Electronics laserdisc game of the same name, which features Lupin III. Stallone loved the game so much that he wanted to make a film based on the game, but couldn't. But he was able to use the title for this film though.

They always crop stuff like this into 16:9 in modern releases so it's nice to an open matte in circulation

I have the 1992 vhs of this movie it uses the 1990 tape master on it. This copy does not have the Universal Studios Florida Promo at the beginning at all and it has the same Warning Screen from (1980-1991) and the MCA Universal Home Video Logo from (1990-1998) at the beginning as well and plus it does not have the trailer for Scarface the (1983 version) at the end at all either. Because this copy is version #2 of the 1990 VHS. I even know this 1992 VHS on the copyright slipcover the sticker label and the end label on the tape.
