Good video!
Great video, Gloria!
I really liked your video, and appreciated you going through some solutions that did not work for you.
Ok the beginning had me but you divert into electric wire and you say it's affordable? Not for a renter no Lost me at at hat point I'll read the comments and learn some from them.
Just so you know, and I believe I say this in the video, you dont need to use the electric fencing on the outside. The point is the double fencing. ☺ You could easily use the same mesh fencing for both the inside and outside. We did the electric fencing because we will use that solar energizer in the future. (Plus we wanted as much protection as possible since we do not live at the location of our garden) Some people do metal fencing for both fences. We rent too and are by no means wealthy, but at that time we were able to make that investment. I hope this helps, but more than that I hope that you find a way to protect your garden that works best for you! (And is as cheap as possible ☺)
I use an ELECTRIC FENCE.
Thank you. Your home, garden, and sharing of knowledge is inspiring!
Thank you for your kind words!
U talking alot but not saying anything
She Talks too Darn much -- Get to the point already Or get a Talk Show 🙆
Great helpful video Hannah… that’s awesome you have an apple tree in a bucket .. is it a dwarf variety? Tried apples years ago but no success… never saw that nylon fencing before. Wish I’d known of that years ago before I struggled with cattle panel … your garden looks beautiful.. God bless ❤️
They are dwarfs! I got the dwarfs because I’m pretty short and I knew a standard would mean a ladder for me 😂 I think I need to up the bucket size again, but they’re doing good considering! Although I’m fighting cedar rust and some other fungi on them. Fruit is tough! The nylon is certainly convenient although I think it would do better if I put for t posts for support! I hate to sacrifice a plant space for a post! Haha
How long do the bamboo stakes last? Thanks for the video!
Great question! This is our first year using them! We have used other sticks that last for years, so I would think these would too! I’m guessing if any of it is under the ground that would quicken up any rotting. We have some really thick ones and I think they will last years!
my cantaloupe are also stunted. =( some people say that it will lead to bitterness, i don't know if it's true i guess the only way to know is wait and see
Oh no! I wonder what happened with both of our plants! I guess you’re right that we will find out! I hope yours recovers 🙂
I buy cucumber seeds Titus F1 Hela F1 We have many cucumbers 🥒 and fewer empty flowers 🇺🇦
Cucumbers are the gift that keeps in giving! I’m glad you’re getting a lot! 😄
Good edit! 👍
We're in our second year of woodchuck gardening and are thrilled. It is easy underfoot, keep weeds down and no more muddy boots. Underneath its breaking down and has lots of micillium growing underneath.
I love it! I think it’s a great method!
Great information Hannah!! I had my plants die one year because the compost I had delivered was too hot … I had it tested by the Extention department… learned a lot from that. And you are right about herbicides….. I’ve seen Roots and Refuge and Cosmopolitan Cornbread lose gardens because of that. I like how you do just for fun planting… I do too 😂!! Tried planting those cute decorative little pumpkins that I got last fall in straw bales and they grew and are taking over one part of the yard !! Your strawberries look real nice with the potatoes peeking through. Have a blessed weekend ❤️🙏
Sometimes the random fun plantings are the most vigorous! 😂 I’m sorry you dealt with hot compost, it’s discouraging when you put in the work and then you run into issues! Enjoy your weekend 🤗
I'm pro wood chip too!
I’m loving them!!
Yes to the woven weed fabric. Changed my life.
Same! Haha
Good morning Hannah… I just had to share this with you … I harvested the one cardboard box of Kroger organic potatoes I let go to seed potatoes… planted them whole in March. The harvest is terrific!!!!!!! And the soil is full of worms so Iam going to plant tomatoes in it !!!!! Thought you might like to know the success of planting in cardboard boxes!!!! Have a blessed week ♥️
That is so cool! I love it and glad you shared it with me. I love learning about the different ways to grow, there is so much to try! So glad you got a great harvest, what a blessing! ☺️
Hey Hannah …. So happy you have a great garden pest and weed protection for your hard work ! Praying one day soon you can have your own yard to garden in … while on the road today I passed an apartment complex and got a smile at the buckets someone is growing in on their small area !! I thought of you at your rental…. Can’t stop us gardeners !!! God bless ❤️
Your prayers and encouragement mean so much!! ❤️ you’re right about us gardeners, if there is a will there is a way! Haha
Very helpful information. I'll be using your method to keep out ground hogs! I've already purchased the Dewitt fabric. Had planned to use it between the rows but will now cover the whole garden. Thank you!
I hope it works and you can keep those stinkers out! They really have an appetite 😂 I hope your garden does great!
@@glorialiving Thank you!!!
Thank you Gloria for sharing your experience. Love your videos
Thank you so much!

Hey Hannah… I was just wondering yesterday about you as I hadn’t seen a video for awhile. So glad you are well and your garden looks great!!! I too had a bit of a delay in starting my garden but as you said our Lord blesses us and mine is coming along too. I planted potatoes in cardboard boxes with leaves .. wood chips and a little dirt and worm castings never did that before but saw it on an organic farm video… they are doing great !!! I planted some green beans too but always get the best production and flavor when I replant for the fall harvest… less bug pressure too. God bless and happy gardening ♥️
I’m always so happy to see your sweet comments! I love the potato planting idea! I hope you get tons. I’m going to have to try green beans in the fall, that’s a great idea. I’m glad you were able to get your garden in too. Besides business, the weather was being pretty challenging near planting time! God bless you! ☺️
I live in Maine, plenty deer in our neighborhood. This simple fishing line fence works perfectly in our raised bed and it’s easy to weed or pick veggies through it. Lasts all season, too.
This is one of the best "frugal grocery" videos I've seen (and I've watched many). I basically do everything you mentioned in the vid! 😊 Do you freeze butter and block cheese? If butter or cheese go on sale, I always buy extra and freeze it. I stopped buying shredded or pre-sliced cheese because it's more expensive AND goes bad a lot faster than block cheese.
Thank you! I have frozen butter, but haven’t done cheese yet! Thank you for the tip! I wasn’t sure if I could freeze it, but now I will! Does it do anything to the texture? ☺️
@@glorialiving I've noticed that my cheddar blocks seem to crumble a bit more easily if I freeze, thaw, then cut -- but absolutely no change to flavor or melt properties when cooking. Frozen then thawed mozzarella blocks seem to be same as never frozen. PS -- I don't freeze soft cheeses because I've read they don't turn out well after freezing.
By soft cheeses, I mean things like brie, or soft, wet mozzarella, or ricotta, etc. Mozzarella blocks are softer than cheddar, but still do well in the freezer. I think any block cheese with the same basic consistency would do fine.
Where did you get the fabric you use on your garden walkways?
The company is Dewitt! I found them on Amazon ☺️
I accidentally ran over my hose
That was so helpful
Squirrels: challenge accepted! 😂. But really, thanks for the video. I will try this next season. Our only mango fruit was stolen by squirrels.😤 Look forward to a follow-up video of how it goes.
My orchard is in it's second year so not much fruit yet. Our dogs and barn cats keep the squirrels away. I may try some of that mesh on my tomato plants though. Bugs seem to get those the most. Neat strawberry buckets. :) Thanks for the video.
With as many cats as our neighborhood has, I can’t believe the squirrels and birds are so brave! Haha I hope it helps your tomatoes if you try it!
I’ve used yellow caution tape for years. Idk why but they’ve never jumped just a 4’ fence with yellow caution tape.
So simple it took 18’min
Hi Dear, I saw your CZcams channel video and understood that Very nice video. You have 1.24K subscribers but videos are not more watched and subscribers because your video is not SEO. I have analyzed and realized that your CZcams channel is not progressing and improving. It is responsible for: 1. Channel videos are not properly SEO 2. Videos are not reaching the people 2. There is no rank tag in the Video 3. Video SEO score is 00 out of 100 but SEO score should be 90+ to rank video 5. Channels tags not good quality 6. No video tag and other technical problems Do you want all the problems solved? I can help you.
Just be aware that cooked meats in the freezer do not have as long of a shelf life as raw meat in the freezer. I only learned that last year. But I do like the convenience of batch cooking and freezing.
I usually cook 2 whole chickens in the instant pot on Sunday. That is good for a few meals during the week. The food saver is a good tool when buying in bulk as well. Your seedlings looked ready to be planted. :) Good talk. Thank you
Great tips!! I try to buy our ground hamburger in bulk at Sam's! Can you link the container you use for your rice and pasta? I need a good rice container!
I love the big packs of ground beef from Sam’s! Ours is an OXO brand! It’s done alright, but sometimes the lid is sketchy 😂
Great video! I'm planting tomatoes for the first time this year, and although I have heard most terms before, your video was very helpful. It helped me structure all the information in my head, thanks!
I’m so glad! I hope you get a great crop of tomatoes ☺️
Another great video. Thank you. Love your A-frame set up. Are your white pails food grade?
Thank you! They are food grade. ☺️ those smaller ones I get from Walmart’s bakery section! They’re used, but they sell them really cheap! The bigger ones are a mix from Walmart or from local restaurants that give them away ☺️
@@glorialiving thanks for the info
Thank you, great info, since my onion started to sprout in my pantry, I thought why not. I've planted it and will see what comes of it. Again. Thanks for the help
I built an eight foot fence. In 5 years no deer has jumped my fence. The deer are mostly mommas with young. They will not jump the fence leaving their young behind. With a fence , you don't have to put it up or take it down every year. Fishing line doesn't work. The deer will break 40 lb mono , then the line will trash your lawn mower. The deer will start eating soap. In a county in Arkansas where purple hull peas are the main crop, the farmers build a double fence. I haven't tried it, but it works for them. I used extruded polyethylene webbing. It keeps deer out, but coons, possoms, squirrels, and rabbits chew their way into the garden.
TY for sharing your blessings big hugs from Coco 🌺
New subscriber here, good advice here 😊
I wish you could show more views of your garden so we can see more clearly.
That’s a good tip! I’m thinking about redoing this video and making it a little more compact. If I do then I’ll try and get more shots so it’s easier to see! ☺️
Dang you talk way too much
Just found your channel and I appreciate your no fancy pants approach. Be sure to let us know how it works out. Onions are a tough one and I hope they're not too late.
Potatoes are easy to grow in 5 gallon double pots just keep the pots out of hot direct sun (remember they grow fine in Ireland)
My raspberries climbed out of their original pot and started new plants every where they touched the ground and the original plant in the pot died. They don’t need to be babied.
They are so hardy! That’s crazy that they climbed out of the pot! 😂
This black plastic mesh has worked for us here in Central Texas where deer are abundant and almost fearless. This year a squirrel has got in and dug holes close to seedlings that had to be replanted. So far that's all he has done. Texas spiney lizards get stuck in the mesh. I've rescued 2 of them and put them on a tree where I had placed about 20 baby lizards I came across while moving a dirt pile. They eat bugs for a living.
Thanks for sharing. That was very creative of you. Maybe the bigger size holes will allow for more expansion later on not sure but possibly. God bless you and your family. Duane.
Thank you! I hope you’re right about the plants having room to grow! 😄
