Installing septic riser extensions, and DIY adapter flange
I had a really hard time figuring out how to connect my existing riser pipe to some new riser pipe extensions I bought. After talking with the manufacturer, they wanted to sell me their adapter flanges for over $100 EACH!!! No thanks... I found that I could use a really cheap plastic paver edging product to make my own adapter flange. Hope this helps someone else out.

Just a quick video showing how we connected a harbor freight water pump to a 275 gallon tote. The simplest way we found was to use a 2 inch to 2 inch rubber coupler, hose clamp it to the IBC tote, and hose clamp the other side to a 2 inch to 1 inch PVC adapter. The harbor freight pump needs an in-line check valve on the inlet, but once that’s all installed, it will pump great!

    Can you get 12 hrs of duty cycle from the fire in barel to generator or is it barly 3 4 hrs with burn cooldown cleanout repack ?

    Have you ever thought of doing a gravity auto fill system say with a 90 45 *joint at top of burn bin and then a simple tube to a funnl style that can handle a bag of pellets so just put a full bag of pellets up top light the barrel and have a way longer burn cycle for what I'm thinking for this type of setup

    • @markparadis8029
      @markparadis8029 Před 2 dny

      The 90 45 y pipe installed inside top of burn barely with 45* compounded pipe to something that will hold the pellets and let gravity self feed for the burn part

    Can you add heat fins to the front of your cold side piping to help dispel heat and would a seperate fire box side with a side thats settable as a shelf inside to get the raw fuel #1 burning hot keep burning hot but the upper settable shelf would be set just below flash point compard to just load and go as a continuous system oh! I love your vortex vaper seperator propane tank set up that looks sooo much better for moisture in the system to find a collection point compared to other vids on yt

    I realize that this was posted 11 years ago, but you should take a look at some 555/556 timer circuits for a pulse width modulator where you can control the pulse width from a potentiometer. The output of that circuit goes to a beefy power transistor like a 2N3055 configured as a current amplifier. You can also use a power MOSFET, but make sure to observe precautions for electrostatic sensitive devices. You can also use a IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) and feed that directly to the motor. You will need a capacitor followed by an inductor and a voltage snubber after that so the motor has a smooth DC current applied to it and any transient voltage spikes are suppressed so the electronics are not damaged. For the two valves that you have to regulate fuel/air, have you looking into using an Arduino microcontroller. They have a boat load of sensors that you can attach. The main thing that you need is an O2 sensor in the fuel/air line. Since O2 sensors require heat to operate, you would need one that has a preheater. The output a voltage between 0 and 1 volt depending on the O2 concentration. You can attach R/C servos to the valves so the computer can automatically control the mix. The computer will also need a tachometer so it knows what the RPM of the engine is can properly throttle the generator to 1800 RPM for the powerhead so you get the correct frequency output. As for the heat problem, you could try running a longer tube between the gasifier and the cyclone filter, weld some cooling fins on it and cover it with a shroud. Then using a air mattress inflator, you can force air through there to help cool it down. There are high temperature rubber hoses too. The one that I would probably go with is a dryer exhaust hose. You could also weld cooling fins vertically on the burn can to help keep it cool. Since you seem to have a lot of waste heat, you could place the burn barrel with the fins inside a shroud and insulate it. Feed the exhaust heat from the tube into it. The output could go directly into your house for heat. That way, nothing is wasted and the energy from the wood is fully utilized. A simpler solution is if you can guarantee that there are no leaks, you could place the gasifier indoors and point a fan at it to heat a room in your house then run the fuel line outside to where the generator is. Overall, I am impressed with what you have made.

  • @FelixWatts

    Great job! I have some questions about practicality: - In a situation where petrol isn't available, it seems unlikely that wood pellets would be available. Can you run this thing on logs, branches, twigs, kindling etc? - How long can you run this on a single "tank" of wood? - If you load the generator, does it stall? - What regular and irregular maintenance is required? For example, how often do you have to replace the wood shavings in the filter? How often do you need to clear the ash? How often do you need to empty the jam jar? Are there other jobs necessary to keep it running over years? Do any of those jobs involve partial or full disassembly? Its amazing to see a petrol engine run on wood, now I want to know what its like to actually use this cool tech.
