Marlene Dietrich, Kim K, Barbara Streisand: Classic VS. Modern Beauty [cc]
Hello everyone. Today's video is about classic and modern Hollywood beauty. I had some audio recording issues, so I apologize for that.

Major Fashion Moment in Film I Analyzing The Red Dress in Jezebel (1938)
zhlédnutí 10KPřed 3 lety
Today I talk about the film the costume design in the film Jezebel, directed by William Wyler. None of the clips or music I use is my own. Go out and rent/buy Jezebel, and support the artists!
I would seriously love to see the killer and his agent together too bad he doesnt see her that way.
Julie ruined her life by wearing that dress.
i think ive watched this 20 times
Which site have you taken this clip from please?
In Internet Archive is the full movie available to download
@@elgranhermano3175 thank you!
Bette Davis would've been great as Scarlett O'Hara
She didn't want to play it.
Great commentary
They offered Gone with the Win to Bette. At the time she was fighting for better roles. When Warner told her they had a film for her (Gone with the Wind) she basically turned it down thinking it was a junk role. You can hear her speak about this right here on you tube on the Dick Cavette show from 1971.
Thanks for the suggestion :) I love Dick Cavette's interviews
Not true. Selznick said she was "not suitable". Davis was notable for talent, not beauty.
As others have said, she would have loved to play Scarlett but was never a true contender. Perhaps ironically, "Jezebel" is a much better film than GWTW, in my opinion.
One of my favorite movies! I wish they would make a colorized version! So that we could see the vivid red dress.
So good! I wanna see it in color but also don't... the mystery is cool
The red dress is actually black, because red didn't make a strong enough contrast in a black and white movie.
That white dress was unforgettable! She was unforgettable. Loved her.
She was truly one of a kind
There is give and take. A young woman I met sometime back had a boyfriend, and they loved each other, but she said to him, "don't ever ask me to marry you". Because she had seen her own mother's subservience to her father, and it had made her angry.... Women don't realize that some (most?) men want the security and comfort that marriage provides. So she lost him to someone who was willing to compromise. Choices have consequences.
I've been thinking about this alot! Damned if you do, damned if you don't
@@echo7299 life is a wonderful adventure; taking a chance on love is a good thing, even if it ends eventually.
Yep. Men - speaking in general (obviously, there are exceptions) - can be astonishingly "pragmatic" and, well, easily pleased when it comes to marriage. That's why so many men remarry so quickly after the death of their spouse or a breakup/divorce; and they usually marry equally "pragmatic" women whose priority is marriage, having a husband, being a "mrs", not necessarily romantic love.
This should have been in color because of the red dress, if no other reason.
The imagination can be better
Right! In my head, it's a beautiful blood red...
~I imagine Dark Crimson Red with that slight Velvety Satin Texture ☺️ That works for my imagination 🌹 Love that Spoiled Jezebel ♥️😅
I want that small clip of Michelle Reis shaking placed in a QR code above my tomb!! Sooooo good!
Right! Everything about this scene is perfect ..
For real and the thunder sound suits it very well.
