This was the most helpful and relatable Florida moving Q & A I've come across. My family and I are relocating to Florida in June. I've worked in the restaurant/service industry for years and my husband is a welder. As with any state, things are different in different areas. If you don't mind, where are you (county at least if you're not comfortable sharing the city)? We will be coming to Pasco county, between Tampa and Clearwater Beach. Everything is looking good so I'm not worried but my husband is a little apprehensive. May I ask what the rental process was like prior to your arrival in Florida? Or did you live with your sister while finding a place? How did you communicate with prospective landlords and did you have to fill out multiple apartment applications before getting an apartment? We're you able to find an apartment close enough to the time you were planning to move down there or did you have to secure and pay rent in Florida prior to ending your lease in NJ... Meaning, did you pay any rent on either apartment you weren't living in just to secure a lease (FL) or not illegally break a lease (NJ)? Lastly, in total - moving truck, licensing and registration, apartment rental and security deposit, travel costs, etc. How much would you estimate was the total cost of your move? Thanks!

@@elizabethguillermo6157 I've started my process...We do have three kids, which may be different than your situation but I'll keep you updated here though. Lol. I've found that NO ONE answers emails. Call the leasing agent/landlord directly. I've only applied for one home (denied). They're sending the reasoning in a letter but I'm pretty sure it's my credit. My husband's is decent, mine is shot. We're technically middle class based on income (no govt benefits or subsidies can be applied to us) and have maintained stable employment for years. And we're not criminals. I've found that moving truck companies cost more for one-way rentals. Downsize as much as possible... We're coming from Wisconsin and a 12 foot Uhaul will run us $1500.00+. Since I want to replace the majority of our furniture I'm looking into downsizing enough to load it into a Ford F-150 (rent through Enterprise @ $700 one-way). Lol, I'm leaving everything except for bedframes, kitchenware, clothes and important documents. That's it for now. Good luck!
Ambria Griffin I have two kids a high school and middle scholars. I already applied for a school in the Orlando area which they were accepted to a charter school. I have a friend who lives in the area. I worked as an accounts receivables coordinator which I’m hoping to keep my job and work from home( praying to god that they allow me to do that) my husband is a truck driver who is currently looking for a job in the Orlando area. When it comes to looking for apartment I have not applied for any as of yet. I only reach out to a realtor at realtor.com who wants me to schedule a showing but I’m not ready yet. I’m planning of going next month if is possible to look for a house or an apartment to rent. I’m planning of selling everything and just take the essential such as clothes and small things, I will buy all the furniture there. I’m coming from NYC and it will cost me a lot money to take all my furniture, Instead we decided to use the money and buy new furnitures. Good Luck!
