The abuse of bride price does not warrant its abolition. What needs to stop is the abuse. The guests who suggested they'd rather make their own financial investments as a couple from the potential bride price have unfortunately not been properly educated on its cultural significance so they are dismissive from a viewpoint informed by ignorance. If they knew that bride price is returned in some cultures they would not venture such opinions. That said, those women who despise it when it's an integral part of their culture usually find themselves at the deep end, when things start to go south!

What you say about the photographing and fingerprinting from October is of course correct, unless of course implementation is delayed again. However, the rules about proof of accommodation or possession of a certain amount of money are highly unlikely to ever be enforced in respect of the average British traveller. These rules are not new and social media has been scaremongering about them for quite some time. They would also be a nightmare to enforce. To take just one example, in these days of credit cards, how many people actually travel with large amounts of cash or travellers cheques in their possession? Very bad of Ryanair to have allocated the emergency exit seats to passengers travelling with an infant.
