The Scalp Cut
63 The Scalper
is a danger to the face,
64 with its turn,
very dangerous to the breast.
65 Whatever comes from him,
the Crown will take it.
66 Slice through the Crown,
thus you will break it hard through.
67 Press the strokes,
with slices pull them away.

Are you the fool because you use the fool guard or am i the fool to attack you in your fool guard Nah Id win, I can understand that the others will get me a harsh time if they release their high guard expansion. *proceeds to get slashed and dies of blood loss* *he rises from the dead* What the? I was on the of death and used my reverse grip technique and finally i saw it! Interesting.. You are right..- YOURE SO RIGHT! Imaginery technique Hollow guard 🗡️🟣

I don’t know if you still check the comments, but I have a question. Is there a technique or some kind of actual historical fighting style where you deliberately open up to take a hit in a less vulnerable spot or with low force delivered by the opponent, which then opens the opponent up to a potentially more damaging counter hit?. Or is this a stupid idea and it’s just never worth to „trade“ hits?😅

You're a fool to stay in the guard. And you are a fool to attack someone using the guard.

If ever I go to HEMA, I will gladly use this stance, its against agressive fencers to make a foolish engagement also, to see the weak points of an offence.

I think doing an upwards cut transitioning into an overhead hammer/slash while taking a step forward would be very effective against an hesitating opponent

    • @Keduhh
      @Keduhh Před 2 měsíci

Actually, fools guard, upwards slash while taking a step back while opponent attacks, following with an overhead slash transitioning into a full charged stab would be a very beautiful combo

If you want to convince me, spar someone. They must know what they are doing and be uncooperative. Heck. I'd do it. When we are talking about it's weakness against faster weapons, that doesn't mean daggers, it means literally every other weapon. Yes, you can smack someone's toe if they don't see it coming. I hope you didn't miss. By comparison: True Two Handed Swords weigh five pounds. They're not as nimble as a longsword (about 2 lbs), but they can still use the same basic moveset. Both of these weapons kill in one hit. Imagine winding up for a Zornhau (a diagonal cut from shoulder to hip) with that thing. A regular greatsword would cut you in half so fast, you wouldn't even be able to throw your back out. Another question is: why? Killing someone with a blade is very easy. It gets easier the bigger the blade is, sure, but you've already passed 'dead simple'. Point of fact: nobody who has ever fought in a real battle against a two handed sword is still alive today.

You don't actually use schielhau like this, is this from the gloss of Meyer? Lew, PPVD, Hans Seydenfaden and Hans Medel don't utilize it like this.

czcams.com/video/7gCNwrIM9ss/video.htmlsi=6GtSd1gyOAnKnJ7h This and the version of superiorHEMA are most in line with my interpretation of the Schielhaw. A very vertical cut that wins the centerline by better angle and einschießen. I don't see the advantage in angle in your interpretation. I have nothing against the title btw. It's perfectly in line with the glosses. I always prefer in gear showcases of techniques and, if there, a sparring situation where this occured. But, as a content creator, I know this isn't always possible, because of time restrictions. Better to get something out then nothing at all.

What makes you think ochs is with horizontal edge alignment? Or more to the point... Always or inherently with horizontal edge alignment? With this version you show here any oberhau can blast right through it as they will have their edge on your flat. Static blocks from ochs... Are they described? I think they use the hilt, not so much the blade... As opposed to versetzen (displacements) which are not static blocks. Absetzen or winding into a regular diagonal edge alignment is much more efficient as well as widely depicted... In fact the horizontal edge alignment is hardly shown at all. And as already noted, you upper strikes are more a weird prellhau. The rotational point of the zwerch over your head gets hands hit, as there is no opposition in the zwerch, nor forward percussion onto any bind the zwerch might result in, making it a very risky strike to use, as opposed to the strong and line closing strike it can be
