      @@alpinepilot Der Walker Quietflow ist OE Ersatz. Damit ist der Z wohl so laut bzw. leise wie damals im Neuzustand. Ist zumindest deutlich leiser als der alte ausgebrannte Original Schalldämpfer mit Loch an der Seite. Der Magnum V8 mit untenliegender Nockenwelle und 2 Ventilen pro Zylinder hört sich aber generell ganz anders an, als der 4.7L Powertech mit obenliegenden Nockenwellen und 4 Ventilen pro Zylinder. Dynomax wäre noch eine alternative. Der Super Turbo ist etwas lauter als OE Ersatz (z.B. Quietflow von Walker). Und der Dynomax UltraFlo SS soll noch etwas aggressiver klingen. Danke. Hatte Glück eine gute Basis zu finden, aber wie Du wohl unschwer erkennen kannst war es dennoch mit viel Arbeit verbunden. :) Die Batterie thermisch gegen den heißen Motorraum abzuschirmen bringt viel in Bezug auf eine längere Batterielebensdauer. Die Hülle hab ich zusätzlich noch mit 20mm XPS-Platten gedämmt. Werkseitig lief jeder Z sogar mit einer Batterieumhüllung vom Band. Die ist bei 99,9% der Exemplare aber wohl schon so zerbröselt das sie deshalb entfernt wurde. Und viele Besitzer haben es nicht für nötig gehalten für Ersatz zu sorgen. Die Teilenummer dieses original Thermoguards -> Mopar 56026843 Der ist nun aber schon mehrere Jahre ersatzlos entfallen. Liebe Grüße

    Exceptionally clean ZG as usual! Don't know if you remember our last conversation, but I did get my manage to get my dad's ZG back home and I really have been enjoying the car. It has some small things that need to be taken of care though and what worries me the most is a coolant loss while driving, which I couldn't find out the origin of yet.

      @Fredward_K Před 21 dnem

      Sure I can remember. Congratulations that you could get the ZG of your father back. Always have a good trip and happy wrenching. In regards to the small Coolant leak have you checked the freeze plugs in the block. The can leak due to corrosion (to long Coolant change intervals). And have you checked the bypass hose of the water pump? It is important that the system is fully closed in order to operate correctly. It needs to built up certain pressure, otherwise the Coolant turns into steam in certain areas, and can't do its job.

    Glad to see that it is still in excellent condition, also love the jeep script on the spoke, reminds of some jeep designs from the 80s. Are the wheels a different offset, you use any spacers or is it their design/dish that make them seems to stick out a bit more than stock? Last question, what products do you use on the interior, everything seems well preserved and clean without being overly shiny and greasy.

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K Před 21 dnem

      Thanks 😊 No Spacers but yes, slightly different offset (ET20) and they are 8,5J instead of 7J wide. The slight concave dish design let them also appear also a bit wider. Tires are also slightly bigger: 255 60 R17 instead of 225 70 R16. For the interieur I use products from: www.ledermax.at/ Once or twice a year: Cleaning, then tread the leader with Oil so it gets soft again then condioner to protect it. Cleaner works also good for plastic surfaces.

    Hi, I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it started to have this grinding/noise in the rear end. So I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the carrier bearing, but I am not sure if both. But now it's making a owl-howling noise whooooo at 55 plus it's more louder, when you let off the gas it goes away and then apply gas it's back and getting louder past 60- 65 mph, seems like it's coming from the rear shaft or diff have you had this problem? Thanks

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K Před měsícem

      Wrong pinon gear preload / Ring gear backleash. Overhauling the differential is a task that requires a lot of experience. Unfortunately, not every workshop has that... Get a Master Overhaul kit (Yukon/Timken) Find an experienced workshop that can overhaul your differential properly and professionally. If you continue to drive like this it will just get more expensive because you will then also need a new pinion and ring.

Today I have only two left though I had to sell the stock -98 and none of the ones I have left are in stock condition. One is highly modified as I use it for offroad driving and one that now is my daily driver is only slightly modified with a 3 inch lift, adjustable control arms and trackbars, other coil springs, shocks, sway bars and some strong rockslides. But when I see yours I start to consider buying one more just to have a stock in this very good condition!

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K Před 6 měsíci

      Because I thought new parts -> new weights. To true them, both shafts needed weights in different locations then the old factory ones. So my thought was not that wrong. It's like putting a new tire of the same type on the same rim. Even though you orient it the same as the old one -> It will never be true. They are slightly different. Ok rubber tieres varies more then drive shaft links, but the driveshaft also rotates (in this case) 3.73 times faster then the wheels.

      @@Fredward_K I prefer to use ski bags and a microfiber towel to wipe the skis before I store them. One thing I hoped jeep did much earlier was adopt some kind of ski pass-though or individually folding rear seats, losing a big seat to carry a long item is annoying. The only jeep that doesn't have that problem from my experience is the kj cherokee, it has so much headroom you can put skis inside ski bags and kind of rest them on the middle seat standing up at an angle, that thing was made for giraffes with so much headroom 😛.

      @@user-he9jq7gx1n I also thought about a ski bag. But sometimes we are 4 People in the car. And then two people has to squeeze in on the 2/3 rear seat... Indivdual folding seat would be great. And perfect would be as pass-through with a skibar attached to it. These are Mopar aftermarked Cross members. They fit for Chrysler Voyager MKIII and ZJ/ZG 5.9. Original Cross members are not designed for any weight. They are only intended to wedge things transported on the roof. They just has flimy plastic feet. They really start ratteling with stronger cross wind. The original 5.9 Cross Members does not so much. Since we wanted to put a roof top tent on the Jeep I was looking for Atera 080120 cross members. These are the only ones fitting on the standard closed roof rails. But I could not find them. Then I decides to look for the 5.9L roof rails and pair them with the Mopar Cross Members. This was a bit easyer to find. I just hat to refurbish the 5.9 roof rails. (These aftermarked Mopar Cross Members are also fabricated from Atera) And since the Jeep had now the option to finaly put some weight on the roof we desiced to also put the snowboards (and skis) on there.

      @@Fredward_K Ski bags with middle seat pass throughs were a thing on audis since the late 80s, jeep as an outdoorsy lifestyle brand should be one of the first manufacturers to copy it, it makes so much sense, you can have 4 people inside comfortably as well as their skis inside secure and locked, not having to worry about theft, increased noise, fuel consumption, fear of scratching the roof etc, such a missed opportunity! The 5.9 bars look very similar to the wj/wg ones, taller than the earlier zgs, which makes sense since it started production the next year. The atera cross members look much taller than the original ones which is good because it keeps stuff further from the roof so it is harder to scratch it, if you say it is quiet as well it's a win win. Question since you seem so knowledgeable on the zg, do you have any photos or documents from the assembly line in Austria or from the wg, or any specific differences between them and the American equivalent?. Everywhere I looked they state general things like zg/wg had better wiring, seals etc, thank you.

    Vey similar to my 1998 5.9L ZJ. I’ve had it for 19 years and it is still running strong and looking as beautiful as she did when i bought her. Nice work on your Jeep… she looks fantastic!

       @evgeni131 I've thought about it - more than once... But since my other car (E34) has no dents after a complete repaint... I wanted to spend four weeks with it in the paint shop. In the end it had been almost a year. I then even painted the subframe and the entire underbody, 3 weeks of polishing... And after all this work, I now see myself taking care of the vehicle to a completely different levelczcams.com/video/lV5yFHI2LLI/video.html&t I'm hesitant to head with the Jeep in that direction - I'd rather keep those few dents and deep scratches. Since I once bought this car as an “adventure” vehicle, and a nice 4x4 for alpine winters. But maybe one day I'll do it anyway...?! Really just the Dents. Always have a safe trip and have fun with your ZG 2.5Td Greetings from Tyrol.

    Beautiful example, my dad had one while I was growing up and we are considering getting it back. What are the tyre sizes btw?

    • @Fredward_K
      @Fredward_K Před 8 měsíci

      Its the standard tire size for the Facelift Model 225 70 R16 The other wheelset - Unitec EtaBeta 6A are 17" (2:56) here I want to get tires in 255 60 R17

      @@Fredward_K they look wider on the video but the 255 will definitely look even better. Ours used to have 275 just for the looks but I think the new owner changed it to 225 to pass MOT. I'll have to find which wheel/tire combos are legal from factory.

      @@goncalolourenco6989 I feel the same. The Cooper Discoverer AT3 does look a bit wider. I really like the the look of these tires. Especially with the white lettering. They wet grip is also pretty decent for AT Tires. And they are quiet like street winter tires. I think 275 55 R16 is the widest and biggest size for the factory 16" Rims (Y Spokes or 5.9er Five Star). Wider tires are not really possbile for 7" wide rims. And for the hight you will probably need 2" lift. Popular bigger tires are 245 70 R16 or 255 65 R16. For these there is a bit of trimming needed on the front fascia. And maybe the steering has to be adjusted otherwise they will rub on the lower control Arm. They shouldn't be that big of an issue to legalize. 7"x16" Rims (Y-Spoke and 5.9L 5-Star) has from factory only one size -> 225 70 R16 Grand Cherokee with 7x15" Rim (e.g. Canyon) came in different sizes from factory: -> 215 75 R15 -> 225 75 R15 -> 245 75 R15 There is a sticker in the glove compartment for these different facroty tires sizes (and tire pressures). But the smallest tire size the specific car is legal to run is written on the stricker in the drivers door.

      @@Fredward_K wow I appreciate the extensive answer, that was helpful! I had the R15 wheels so I'll have to go with 225 until I externally license other sizes then.

      @@goncalolourenco6989 you are welcome. :) With 15" (Canyon or Snowflakes) you could get the factory 245 75 R15. A bit wider but nearly the same overall size as 225 70 R16 (with Y Spokes or 5Stars). Bonus with these sizes the spare tire cover will still fit.

      Which ZJ has side indicators in the fenders and reflectors in the rear fascia? ZGs also have electronic headlight leveling. This is a ZG build in Graz at Magna Steyr Austria for the european market. ZJs are build in Detroit in the Jefferson Assembly Plant.
