The Schultüte is too wide. Please remember it's origin. The Schultüte was actually a penitent's cap. A pointed hat, like the ones we can see in Catholic Spanish processions or from the US American KKK. The penitent's hat was used to humiliate the children, it was also called a donkey's hat. The children often had to wear it when they had not learned or behaved well. In the school reform of the Reformation in Germany, Martin Luther personally insisted on abolishing the unjust punishment system because he suffered aswell as child from it. A regional custom arose to fill the school cone with sweets at the beginning of the school year. The sweets had been distributed to the new pupils to take away their fears, but also to remind the teachers of a merciful God in whose name they had to teach (the school was under church supervision). The custom eventually fell into oblivion and was only revived in Saxony in the 19th century.

GORGEOUS! You are absolutely right about selling the PDFs for these complex works. Well worth the price. Also, while watching this video, the only change I would have made would to leave the center fold down flap plain. I would use it as a place to write notes, similar to a writing desk. But each to their own. It's a lovely design and so useful. Thanks for showing how you constructed it!😊

Terrific instructions and demonstration. A bone tool works so well for smoothing. Do you have any comment as to how to measure for a non-square box? Of particular interest is the sizing of the lid versus the box base. I note the fold flap is less - 1/2" versus 1" or 2". My brain isn't strong spatially and I eventually got my box and lid the size I wanted, but it was lots of trial and error. Just wondered if you have any perspective/instruction that might make that easier for my future projects. Thank you so much!
