Very rare this is one of the earliest 5 channel car audio amps. Some say it was designed by Robert Zeff (Zapco) The circuit board does look similar to a Zapco Z150 and the terminals look similar to the Zapco Z50.

I have one just like it. Trying to sell. What do you think it’s wor5h?
I might to late but i will buy that EQ asap if you ever decide to sell it
That was a Supertuner also. Where'd you find something like that at?
That was a pretty good deck, I had one of those, and since cassettes are once again popular, if you drive an older or vintage automobile, this would be a gem to find!
They were made in 1984 for sure. I had a pair then
WITH BBE !!!
I had one until it was stolen in Washington heights. Give it back!
👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏽🔥nice video, test and brief overview of the old school crossfire. Quick story, I’m more into home audio and vinyl , my friend who runs a used records store did a nice size record buy several years ago, and the seller through in a car amp and it happened to be this exact crossfire cfa 602 . He gave it to me and I set it on a shelf with various other car amps at my house and just assumed it didn’t work. Just two nights ago I tried it out along with few other car amps I’ve had just sitting around and ohh boy did it ever work, or as I should say did ever bump like hell! Thanx for the video , it was cool!
It's nice to know that old-school car audio is still cool compare to the other current units out there 😁
They were made in Indianapolis. Really good stuff in the day
Ive been looking for some AFS Kricket 6.5 or 6x9 speakers from the 80s forever. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome speakers, they were very popular in the late 80's. They are very hard to find now, I been looking for a pair of 6x9s for a long time myself. Thanks for the comment
pa order po ako ng equalizer amplifier
I had the exact same one in my first car, it was a slide out.I would carry it inside the house eveyday so it woudn't get stolen. It was another era !
How this conpare to the legendary 6.4x
The Boston acoustics 6.4x are great sounding speakers. the 6.4x mid woofers have better bass response and handle more power, but the tweeters are not as smooth sounding as the 861.
Had one in my h.s.car with 4 tri ax jensens sounded so sweet!
i have ads ph12 and i lost the din to rca cable
Sometimes it is cheaper to buy one already made than to make your own. You should be able to find one on eBay.
I had an "prestige" 4ch amp made by audiovox 600w max
Those are good amplifiers I have a Prestige 4 channel model PA460 it is very reliable amp never had any issues.
my 1st amp, this was in my little civic back in the day w ADS speakers. I was so proud
That was one of my dream amps when I was in HS. I lusted after both the a/d/s/ PH15 and the Soundstream MC245. Truly amazing amps, and way ahead of their time.
Gotta love Shadoe Stevens as Fred Rated! 😀
I heard these amps were the best cleanest sounding amps and very rare!! Is that true? In your opinion does Linear power amplifiers sound better sound quality to you then high end branded Mosconi amps,JL amps,Focal or helix amplifiers??
Linear power, Fosgate and ADS were making high end car audio amplifiers since the late 70's Linear Power always had a reputation for making excellent sounding very reliable amps. They were much better than most amplifiers of the 80's and 90's. Some have done mods to them and still use them today. I like newer amps like Helix, Mosconi, Audison,Focal, Rainbow and others. But the amplifier is only one part of the car audio system, the headunit, the cables, speakers and installation can affect the overall sound quality. I dont have a preference between the older high end and the newer amps, because they can both sound great. Linear Power amps are very rare, but there's a lot of great newer amps. It comes down to what sounds good to you. Amps can have similar specifications but can sound different.
I own an earlier Hi comp amp new in box.
I remember this brand being an “upgrade” from Audiovox often available at flea markets. It doesn’t have a power supply circuit so it can never do much more than 30 watts per channel. Its basically the same amp circuit as “high power output” car stereo decks of the day.
I had that carver amp!
I first saw the 10 inch versions at World Radio in Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines,Ia back in 86, also saw my first MTX subs there too.
I like that setup!
You should make cabinets for the speakers and get a 13.8 volt 20 amp or so power supply that has a voltage trimmer on it make a little home system out of it that's what I would do maybe even add a subwoofer but that is very nice looking thank you for sharing wish I had a nice set of ads speakers and the amplifier they were meant to go with very cool thank you
very nice I have a ads PQ 20.2
The ADS PQ20.2 is an awesome amplifier has great sound quality.
@@RareorVintageCarAudio I would like to hear those speakers I wish I would have posted after I watched the whole video it looked like you mounted the ads plate speakers into some 6X 9 boxes and it did not look like you sealed up the gaps I think you had some air leaks because of the square speaker and the oval 6 * 9 Hole I bet they would sound a lot better without the air leaks
I agree with you. Building an enclosure for these speakers would definitely improve the way they sound. Gaps affect the bass response and can make the speakers distort.
@@RareorVintageCarAudio you could just figure out a way to seal up the Gap maybe a larger Square piece of wood or something cut to make a gasket of a sort
Sounds good for 40+ years old.
Is it for sale?
No, sorry. Im keeping this amplifier. It is almost impossible to find this model in this condition. Used ones do come up for sale every now and then on ebay.
Do you want to sell it
Sorry, but I'm keeping these.
I remember these from crutchfield lol❤
I do have still my Power Plate 100!
I had the120 installed in my red 1975 corvette in 1982. But as an ignorant 18-year-old, I didn't pull it back out when I sold it. BIG mistake
I sold these in my store back in 1989. They were made for a car audio distributor I bought product from, the builder was indeed Precision Power and that was the distributor’s strong selling point. They were great audiophile quality amplifiers for the price.
That's a good amp. 👍 thanks for sharing.
the 720 soud better
Carbon 6x9s way back then beautiful
Please the diagram to connect
Sorry I dont have it anymore. I sold it about 2 years ago.
Hello friend, what happened to the "MGT" brand, does it still exist? did they change their name? I didn't know the brand until I discovered some 6X9s for sale.
MGT stopped making car audio in the mid 90s. Some equipment was branded as Magtone Electronics. They made very good quality car audio equipment, mostly made in Japan and Korea. Im going to do a video on a 300-watt 4 channel amp soon. You can still find some NOS or good used equipment, sometimes they come up for sale on eBay.
Amplis de poca potenci pero bonitos
That was my very first head, on my first real system. My stereo mantra... It pulls out, but I don't. Ahhh, the good old days. I t got stolen, because, like my personal unit, I didn't always pull it out either. Replaced it with a proton that I got at a pawn shop because it looked cool. No one I ran with had heard of them before, including myself. I was just getting it until I got more money to get something better. That was my favorite head that I have ever owned. I was an accidental upgrade.
Proton also made awesome amps The Power on Demand series.
What were the pioneer 6x9's that had a flat screen on the top covering the other 2 drivers? It was a 3-way. Something like TX, or TSX120. I blew all my money at once on Head, subs, 2 amps, and tweets, and whatever 6x9's i already had were awful. I went to the salvage yard and pulled them for like $20. They had dead moths and dust all over them, but they sounded good. My Brand-new Orion sub amp had issues and the shop was taking care of it. (no sub amp in car) My passive eq had a hp / lp bypass switch for either channel, and I was playing around flipping them while i had no bass at all in the car. I was amazed at the thump those things made with that surface area, I had a few other friends with some money in their systems and everyone was quietly envious of those dusty junkyard dogs. A few years later I put a pair of the 8in BAZOOKA tube subs in my GF's s-10 blazer, and I thought those 6x9's sounded better for bass than the tubes. Not those factory amped tubes, lol. I put a real amp to them. I have looked on google images, inserting all types of cues to try and find them, but I believe that they were very popular in the late 70's early 80's
The pioneer 6950 3 way had square mids and tweeters, and a screen covering the midrange.
@@RareorVintageCarAudio That is really close. How I remember them is with them having one single rectangular screen covering the two drivers with the model's name in white on the screen. But looking at pictures of a pair of them right now, they are probably the same speaker, with just a little cosmetic change done to them through the years. So, I guess my question is; who changed the design. Pioneer or my memory. Thanks for letting me know about those.
I had that exact Amp in my truck in the late '80's.
Theses were some of the best sounding speakers for those that were in the know back in the day. 80s 😊
I have one in my basement. I use this on my 1982 Toyota Celica, with JBL 2-way speakers and single Cerwin Vega subwoofer powered by Rockford Fosgate Punch 45 amp. It may not sound super loud but up to mid volume sounded awesome. Just kept the head deck sold the rest with the car. I missed the system so much. Nice job showing this classic top of the line piece , thx!
Mad ass. Remember seeing at them fly by night sales in the city lol .
Ok thanks
Greetings, I have a CD035MP clarion can the changing of the faceplate make it have a Bluetooth connection?
Sorry looks like that model does not have an auxiliary input that you can adapt to a Bluetooth device. Changing the faceplate to a different one is not recommended it will not work, and can even damage your headunit.
