Welcome to the official CZcams channel for the University Choir at Millikin!
From the pure sounds of the Renaissance to the robust qualities of major choral/orchestral works, the Millikin University Choir celebrates a broad variety of styles and genres. Rather than identifying itself with a particular choral sound, the choir showcases its reputation for tonal diversity. Consequently, the group strives to master a distinct tone and articulation for each piece in its repertoire, based on historical precedent. The Choir's diversity in style is well matched by their unique performance schedule. From schools to churches to major auditoriums, the choir seeks to bring a unique blend of warmth and artistic excellence to audiences of every description. The choir has performed in such remarkable settings as Carnegie Hall, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. and Cathedral Santo Domingo, D.R., the first cathedral in the New World.

makes great memories, miss Brad!
To all here: there is a new recording of this on YT, performed by a couple of small professional singing groups: Voces8 and Ringmasters. Highly recommended!
an excellent choice wish i could have been there to hear this heavenly music
😮lovely
There was another rendition of this classic from several years earlier which was a much better recording, since it was from a frontal camera position which told the story of the competing villages much better. By using only a side view, it's just a jumble of people and it's much more difficult to see the individual characters and the humor of their actions and expressions. That one was one of those videos you watch two or three times to see it all. Wish it was still available! It was taken from the audience, but was still good quality sound.
just heard this song today at a concert, they were some of the best singers at my school (high school but still) and it sounded so cool! the kids who sang it were also in the background of the concert i played in later
Ill never forget when my highschool choir performed this in Annapolis at the navy bases cathedral the acoustics in there were breathtaking it sounds like everything comes from behind you
Respekt. Danke. Danke. Danke.
0:11 those men when my choir did it, I was up on stage and they honest to God scared the crap out of me.
Such a fun performance!
We’re doing this for my eighth grade choir concert-
8th grade is crazy
Israel (Israelites -- so-called Negroes scattered earth-wide), Ezekiel 35:14-15 [14] Thus saith the MOST HIGH YAHUAH; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate. [15] As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the MOST HIGH YAHUAH.
This is the warmest and happiest sounding Christmas song I've heard
Super fantastic
I love singing this song Shape Note. Veddy English but sounds so Appalachian.
Remembering the first performance of this....be happy, Brad and Beth. Thank you so much!
yes!
That link is broken.
SO. GOOD! Love singing this song -- learned by listening to this version! :-)
Arranger: Abbie Betinis
exquisite
gosh, i remember doing the violin duet for the choir back in high school. it was quite nerve wracking without being accompanied by an orchestra. completely wild experience
1:32
i love the cacophony portion at the end but the offbeat accenting made me so mad
Bro my high school choir teacher is the soloist lol, he showed us this in class
Millikin just sings to the heart!
A wonderful performance-full stop. Well done, folks!
All I can say is you should have been there for the live performance. This exact performance. I was there in 2005 and it was breath taking! Truly inspiring.
Kendra, That is when I first heard it myself and this song brings me such joy. My daughter Megan was a sophomore that year and had a solo for Ox and Asses.
Beautiful!! ...And then the pandemic hit
Heard this fascinating song at Vespers many years ago! A lasting favorite!
I remember seeing you guys. We as in Warren and Waukegan Choir Sang with you guys so much fun
2:47 best part. :)
How does this not have more views!? Niin Hyvää! So Good! Impressive version of a Finnish classic!
We got de baby
This song is from the perspective of a person with no assurance whatsoever of their salvation. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." Acts 16:31
such fun and lovely voices!
I will say the same thing 😉
Puts lamentation in a far more somber light. Magnificent hymn, utterly moving and not without hope.
One of my all-time favorites. Great job!
kan ...so you know what your latter end will be ! When the kingdom Is to come....oh Edom. your time is up!
This song is dedicated to Carson Houck.
We Americans are known for not dealing with death very well. We probably get it from our English ancestors. I think this song perfectly depicts how the average American thinks of death. We question, worry, struggle with faith, or lack there of, but receive some sort of comfort at the end through it.
when you kill 500 soviet soldiers with a hunting rifle
We were going to sing this song during choir tour. We were in Spokane ready to sing at the Northwest ACDA Choir conference the next day and we had to go back to Montana because of the whole corona dealio. It’s a shame. That tenor one part is SO fun to sing.
1:05 altos = "AND YOU THOUGHT I ALWAYS HAVE A DARK VOICE MUAHAHAHA"
Sounds like something from The Lion King. It also inspired me to make a song that I’m making for a video game, so that’s pretty cool.
What’s the name?
He's actally my choir teacher now (Mills) and this is probably my favorite arrangement of a song. Mills if you find this, uh hi
mr mills be like “today i will not only be a great teacher but also a great composer”
Chambers gang anyone ?
The soprano on the high A is incredible! consistent support on such a high note! the sopranos can either make or break this song, so it’s so nice to hear this😍😍
My choir teachers sang this with milliken
