Great info for newbies.
I caught a Yellow eye Rock fish and a Quilback rock fish south of Ketchikan a week ago. Man. They don’t even look real.
Hey ADF&G go net some those tourists with dipnets on the peninsula. Or clammers/

Can’t wait to go this year
ur fishing license money well spent folks. if u happen to walk up the creek past the no fishing gate you will come to a bridge with a hole below it stacked with fish. If you were wondering where all the silvers are and/or if they actually exist thats where, piled in that hole like cordwood. As it is the first slow water that silver perfer. Plunk or drift some roe through there even sink a spoon w a lil fluttering action from ur rod. Silver after silver almost every cast. Just watch outv for the fish cops wearing bear suits they don't like people figuring that out//
What are limits
Nice💛💛💙💛
Better than “Counting Crows”, and almost as good as “Count Basie” 😂 Seriously, thank you for what you do and for sharing the process with us. 😎
Wonderful information! How did this years count look, compared to the past years? Been a lot of talk of dwindling returns.
i'm hoping they were just late like the pink returns. the silver limit was reduced in PWS valdez arm from 6 to 3 mid way (a few weeks back). They were definitely hard to find after the initial surge but now there seems to be quite a few in the port. Of course, I cant distinguish the wild stock running up the rivers but i'm guessing the zillions of tiny pink sized silvers cruising the shorelines are hatchery silvers.
@@littlegoobie I was kind of thinking that too! I know the pinks showed up later for Kenai, and other places, and there was some weird returns on the Sockeye (mix of year class in my opinion), but good to know that better late than never. Thanks for the info!!!
@@Alaskahuntr I remember hearing that the reds were coming back pretty good, so good people were limiting out in no time. I didn't get there this year but then peple started talking about fewer fish. I don't know. yeah, i was thinking the same about the pws silvers. all the tiny ones are likely jacks so we're probably in for a weaker return next year. I caught more kings than normal while trolling for silvers, not sure how that works in.
@@littlegoobie For sure, the Reds came in full force this year, so was easy to get a limit. Just had a mixture of small and very large, which was kind of unusual. I guessed it was some 1st run mixed with 2nd run. I think you are right about the silvers.

What a beautiful setting to count salmon
Dis iz AnGoon. . .
How many pounds of salmon did you use to get 14 pints?
Some canners insist on putting skin side out, but you put yours NOT skin side out. Any particular reasons?
I did not expect this tutorial from a government agency. Alaska is awesome!
I am assuming that this lady went to public school....
The campground is located where my family homesteaded in 1948. It is a beautiful place, I am glad it is there for people to enjoy.
Very good presentation but for the benefit of novices I thought the video glossed over a couple of things a bit too quickly- first that steam must be strongly venting steam for 10 minutes before the weight is pit on and second that the timer should only be started when the weight actually begins jiggling after that. A third thing is that AA says there is no need for said weight to be venting continuously but only about 4 times a minute. That eliminates any danger the canner will boil dry, but no doubt a continuous sound is reassuring- I think that's the canner's choice,
Nice video,,
Hows the snag experience with that hook fishing downwards?
Best damn tutorial ever! Ty
Ok, so can someone please explain to me the difference in snagging a sockeye salmon and flossing a sockeye salmon? Scott said for a fish to be legally hooked it must have the point of the hook inside the mouth, not outside, or anywhere else on the flesh. Flossing for salmon means that person is actively attempting to snag a fish inside the mouth, how can this activity be legal?? OR am I missing the point about the department selling license's so they can raise huge amounts of money directly and indirectly through violation fines?? Two years ago in Canada I had an asshole of a fisheries officer try to write a ticket for using a fly with a barb, I had crushed the barb off it with forceps but in his opinion it was still detectable. Right across the river were six first nations guys netting salmon that were protected at that time, but he was too interested in trying to write a $500 fine to the European who fishes there every year and kills zero fish. I told him his $500 fine will cost $5000 per year for the rest of my life, because I will never return, he thought about it and put the book away.
I would need a license to fish at this particular lake?
All American recommends only olive oil or Vaseline on the sealing surface of the lid, since other oils can get gummy or sticky after a while. I recently got a 921 (21 quart) All American pressure cooker. It is more expensive that other canners, but will last for generations. I have done 2 batches of rainbow trout and I love it. Do you have a recommendation for cleaning the cooker out after a batch a doing fish. My next project is to can some beef chunks.
You'll see that one floating on the surface behind the boat in a few minutes
Wow!
Awesome! People needed this! Thanks!
This just proves that bison 💩 is good for the land and cow 💩 is also good for the environment!
What sizes of triangle weights can you use. I have 8oz ones
Way too big Use 3 or 4 ounce
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing, it looks like hard work! Something I aspire to do someday. Regarding studying their diet, can you get that with just a blood sample or do you also need a fecal sample?
Which direction should I face my nesting box?
Thank you for the very useful information!

Bear in my neighborhood last nite.
👍🐿️
Outstanding and helpful upload, so nicely put together!
thank you for not distinguishing black or brown. I don't think the color matters, every bear is different, kind of like humans.
Thank you folks for ALL you do for us.!
Glad I found you, love this pattern, great job tying it. Thanks for sharing!
Good presentation Kelly, sounds like you're a Salmon expert now. I don't remember you catching fish that big in front of your house on West Bay. You were better at roasting marshmallows for s'amores! Keep up the good work. See ya back in Michigan! Your neighbor Mike
Thanks for the video. In Alaska is it legal to vent a fish..with a venting needle ? too release the air
I actually have the book
I found some unique tracks in Banff National Park 2 days ago. Not a track expert at all but perhaps you can take a look at my video of the tracks and maybe be able to tell me what they are . Many are saying Mountain lion but I’d like an expert opinion . czcams.com/users/shorts41zXpygzg6c?si=hx907YB7yO09tJFx
I Like this example better than any of the others I've seen on YT. Great job!
Best example I've watched yet! Thank you for the great tutorial.
By far the most informative video ive found on the subject. Thanks!
Awesome. Making this tonight but adding Jalapenos.
