Once the child starts experiencing foot or leg pain, I suggest fitting the child in supportive shoes and if the pain persists, orthotics as well. There is not a set age for a child to start wearing supportive shoes.

With that said, you can definitely try a pair of shoes with the same features I recommend in the video such as a stable base of support with firm heel counters, and they need to be rigid at the front instead of overly flexible. How old is your son? I consider learning how to walk when toddlers walk with assistance or grab onto furniture and perform lateral movements (move side to side). Your toddler might be in the process of learning how to walk, as he seems to be taking some steps but he doesn't seem to be fully stable. Is he wearing shoes or going barefoot?
