Anaba Wines is a boutique, family-owned winery in the Carneros region of Sonoma, California crafting acclaimed Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rhone-style blends. The name Anaba is derived from the anabatic winds that blow through the estate vineyards. In 2009, Anaba became the first winery in Northern California to utilize wind power with the installation of a 45-foot wind turbine on the property.
In the Vineyard with Anaba Wines: Sampling Pinot Noir at Las Brisas Vineyard
Welcome to another episode of "In the Vineyard with Anaba Wines" as Winemaker Katy Wilson walks the Las Brisas Vineyard with Luis Gutierrez from our winery team, sampling grapes ahead of harvest.
As we get closer to harvest, our vineyard visits turn to sampling. Katy and Luis walk the rows of vines, pulling samples of grape clusters to get a random cross section. Once back at the winery, they will squish the grapes and test the juice to monitor the sugar (brix) and pH levels, as well as check the overall flavor development. This happens throughout the season, allowing Katy make picking decisions.
The Las Brisas Vineyard, located in the Carneros AVA, has been a part of our vineyard designate Pinot Noir program since 2011.
