Registrace 1. 11. 2015
Our small family recently moved from Oregon to Alabama. We left the cold behind and are starting a new life here in the deep South. I intend this channel to chronicle our adventures here in lower Alabama and any potential further flung travels. Also, this serves as a platform to showcase the music that I love to create and a place for us to visually demonstrate our families growth in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hope that we can inspire someone to take a chance to make a change, both geographically if desired, but, more importantly to move to the guiding light and love of Jesus.
Mardi Gras parades in Mobile, AL 2024.
A quick snippet of some parades that we attended so far this Mardi Gras season (2024). We have been to three parades and I can honestly say that I am good until next year; my wife and daughter, on the other hand, they could go to all of them without getting burned out.

Ultimate Island Adventure: Conquering 17 Miles on Foot!

www.buymeacoffee.com/ramblingsam From the time that we moved to Alabama, 8 months ago, I have wanted to venture out to the uninhabited west-end of Dauphin Island. Last summer we randomly talked to this lady whom said it was beautiful out there, "...like at the end of the world...". I figured that if she could walk all the way out there, then, I too should be capable of making the trek. 2 hours ...

We decided to do a weekend trip to Florida to celebrate my birthday . This turned out to be literally the last warm weekend of the year (2023) and I am sure the last time that I will be able to swim in the ocean until it warms up enough in 2024. We stayed at the Beal House. I 100% recommend this hotel to anyone and I would love to stay again in the future. This hotel was recently remodeled and ...

Staying in this town and this casita was one of the best adventures our family of three has ever had. The place was immaculately clean and the main bed was very comfortable. The place is quite, very private and the AC works great. You have access to the two pools and hot tub. The grounds have a full time landscaper who keeps the whole place tidy. The staff at the main house are very friendly an...
Cheap (ish) Puerto Vallarta Condo Tour 2022 - Zenith Building

My wife, myself and our child went on vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in October of 2022. My wife (Catrina) was a little hesitant about visiting Mexico so I booked this condo at the Zenith building to ease her into the new environment. This building, and unit in particular, is AMAZING! It's in the heart of the old town, surrounded by fantastic restaurants, shopping, culture, and only 3 bloc...

I did a bit of re-editing this music video with VSDC video editor program to learn the software better- there were parts of the old music video that annoyed me. I used a loop from Looperman.com by member/musician "silencekills". Other than the loop, my good friend Matt Humiston played the drums for this song.

Mini Greenhouse Drip Irrigation

Hey everybody, I figured it is about time to show the mini backyard greenhouse update now that summer 2017 is kicking off. The plastic sheeting was starting to break down on the greenhouse, which will happen eventually. I removed it before it totally disintegrated because that would have been a heck of a mess to clean up. I found one piece of glass that fit almost perfectly in the front of the ...
Something Killed my Chickens

Some creature/predator killed my chickens over the winter. I suspect it was a raccoon. I was in a somewhat foul mood the day we filmed this video and think I came across as being a bit callous or too nonchalant with regard to my chickens untimely end. I assure you when I found them lying there, I was gutted, really bothered for a couple of weeks. Although chickens are a lot of fun to watch and ...

I came up with this song and melody about a decade ago while laying in a sleeping bag during a most unpleasant camping trip. At the time I thought I was in a terrible relationship.........I don't know if it was really that bad but I did generate a song from the experience. It should be noted that this song is definitely NOT about Catrina, so please don't anyone freak out. I used a drum loop tha...

This is the latest song I wrote and recorded. I slapped together a quick "music video" for this song. All of the footage was from our recent drive to visit my Dad. Wow, those beaches are amazing! Looks like the family had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing. When are you going to do more gardening or update us on your garden? Thank you.
Hi, thank you for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it. We just moved in the last six months from Oregon to Alabama. The old garden and greenhouse are no more. It was good while it lasted and was a very fun and productive hobby. Where we live now, it is completely covered in shade from huge trees but we are having a few taken down so there is the possibility that we will be able to do some more gardening in the future. I am starting to get into growing tropical yard plants, but again, massive amounts of shade so I don't know how well that will work. Take good care, and have a safe and happy Christmas. God Bless.
Mardi Gras City. Nice place
My sheep will sort out any runaways. FFS they're eating the damn FIG TREE stems. Yeah, with the white sap and all. Btw the Australian native "tomato"? Absolutely bland as hell. It's less interesting than plain boiled potato. But food is food if you're hungry. And those things grow like weeds. My father thought THEY WERE weeds until I told him they're native.
Good idea with the goats. Strange times we are in, stay prepared and God Bless!
This great! My friends actually own this!! Small world!
Thanks Jeff!

I forgot to create slope! Any idea on how to add slope afterwards 😢
That’s a tough one, if the plastic is not too tight maybe you can still get a piece of lumbar added to one side. You only need a little bit of slope.
Same for New Zealand spinach
There are some berries that are technically edible raw but you just wouldn't eat them raw. Like partridgeberry, which most people don't know you could eat(its used as christmas decoration) because like chokecherries they taste kinda gross raw, but when you cook them into a jam or preservative they become the most delightful thing ever. I can say this with thousands of Islanders backing me up. Sometimes it just might be your methods. Like another berry like this is Bunchberry which is primarily seeds if you eat it raw, but makes a nice fruit dessert when cooked up.
Whats the info on the place. AirBb link?
Yes, excellent question, I did rent this through airbnb. I think prices are going up for the winter season but I would search in the Zona Romantica area and put in the price range that you are looking for. When I reserved this place about 6 months ago, there were many condos in that part of town for under 120 per night.
Sooooo you’re not gonna share the link?!
i am looking to build one about that size, but not so high, just the wood i have, since i am not near it every day to open it up, would it be a good idea to add vents slots near the bottom to let air in? i dont have any bug problems, just want to extend the season, thanks
I just acquired some land and im looking to grow these between the rows of potatoes and carrots. Buy you're saying it spreads like a weed, maybe I'll avoid it lol
I actually like the taste, my grandma used to cook something like a porridge using a different plant from the same family, no clue how it's called in english, but there was similar little aftertaste.
Psychedelic Americana! Dig it!
Seems like the perfect plant to grow in a chicken coop.
I did the same with Woodglut :)
Semoga berhasil.

i would concrete the poles in ..just because i have high winds
let me tell you - covers ain't the obligations to make a copy and I am kinda sensitive on to hiding behind not-a-copy a molested song and flow, but thankfully, this is not your case .. almost sounds like original song, but it sounds good !!! well done
I am glad you liked it. Sometimes my covers work and sometimes not, but they generally are a bit different than the original. Not even necessarily on purpose but because I may not have the skill set to full replicate the song even if I wanted to.
Oh so good alternative version!
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Good 👍 stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the warning. But what about the spinach leaves? How do they taste? Edit: Never mind. You answered at the end. 😆

@@RamblingSam oh, I am in zone 3, it has taken me years to not kill plants....

How many pounds per grow?
muy bien logrado amigo, felicidades!!
Gracias por el lindo comentario.
I'm worrying about the durability of the roof, especially when there is heavy rain. There is a possibility that rainwater will be stagnated on the roof. Do you think it will be better if the roof has a slope?
I would for sure use a slope, in fact if you were really about the weight of snow and rain, you could use a polycarbonate panel on the top.
thanksyou give me good idea .
Most welcome 😊
I like it! Could cover it chicken wire, for pest protection, too. Great video...
Good idea!
Don't Cinderblocks contain fly ash?
That could be, I initially tried to do some research on that and got mixed opinions. I really don't know. There seems to be a lot of conflicting answers to that question.
Great Job, Sam!
Thank you! Cheers!
Swell idea !!!
How do you fix your door is on the very top back part of the box on the opposite side of the door you put in I screw type cord to it and then I screw on the middle bottom of the door so when you open the door you open the door a high enough do you could attach an ice screw and just have a clip on the cord the clips right into the ice screw of the door and that will keep the door from shutting you could either use to ice screws on both corners of the top of the box and two ice screws on the door or just one whichever you think might work better probably two would be more stronger but one should do fine I hope that works for you happy gardening.
Thanks for the comment and detailed idea of how to improve that. I really appreciate it.
May 8th may birthday!
My birthday too 🎉
Go to your dollar store and buy the clear shower curtains. Much heavier and more cost efficient coverage.
Hey sam how your plants doing now?
They are doing OK. At this point I have moved a bunch of potted plants and herbs in the greenhouse. But eventually when it gets real cold, I don't expect anything to survive......I could be wrong.
I am a new sub so I am not sure where you’re from but have you been trying your luck with any cannabis?
I live in Oregon, so it is legal, but I have not ventured into that yet. I would like to try growing, although it would still be a fireable offense for me to smoke it. It looks like your channel has some nice information regarding this subject.
Jamie!!! I love your Progressive Insurance commercials!
LOL
Nice 👍🏼 greenhouse
awesome job for not a perfectionist!
Thanks for the compliment, I hope you have a fun summer and great growing season!
What kind of plastic did you use ?
I just used a cheap thin plastic from a hard ware store, but it will disintegrate in one season. It is better to use actual thicker plastic that is designed for greenhouse application. Have fun growing and thanks for watching the video.
You grow it for the greens. Like lettuce or spinach!
Perfect, I am giving it another go this year.
@@RamblingSam I was going to point that out too. I love it in a mix of greens plus I use it before the seeds are mature, plus the roots are like radish.
So makeshift, it would not work in CA let alone anywhere it snows. Seriously, you are a guy and I have better wood working skills. Use clear sturdy coroplast, not that fuzzy plastic sheeting. Learn to use basic tools. Attaching wood with wire for a CZcams video should be entitled: How NOT to make a greenhouse cover. First get the skills. Then make something worthwhile. Then show it off on CZcams. You cannot teach if you have not yet learned.
That plastic only lasted about a year and I then attached Polycarbonate panels to the top and the sides. Despite my questionable craftsman ship, it has held up for two Oregon winters under 2-3 feet of snow. Thanks for your interest in the video and have a great time growing. Sam
@@RamblingSam Well, you went to the other extreme with pricey Lexan/ Polycarbonate panels. You can get Coroplast clear panels, and I don't think they are polycarbonate, just clear plastic or acrylic. Much cheaper. And very strong. Realtors make their signs from this material, but use an opaque white. Paul Elkin on CZcams uses this extensively to make housing shelters and even an electric boat. I think Coroplast would make an excellent and cheap wall covering for tenting raised beds. Why not show us what you used for version 2? Hopefully structurally stronger with metal fasteners.
Where can I find that fan?
The vent? I may have said fan.....if I did I misspoke. It is very much a vent and not a real great one. A couple of years into it and it has broken. I just keep it wedged in the open position now. I found the vent on The Home Depot website and ordered it to my local store. But again, I would not recommend it in hind site.
