Life-Saving Heart Procedure: Karunakar Reddy's Story with Impella Heart Pump | Dr. A. Sharath Reddy
I wanted to share an inspiring story about one of my patients, Karunakar Reddy.
Karunakar, a dedicated father and self-described workaholic, experienced severe chest pains and difficulty breathing in October 2023. Urged by his wife, Madhavi, he came to Medicover Hospital in Hyderabad, where I performed an angiogram revealing blockages in two main arteries of his heart.
Before addressing the blockages, we employed the Impella CP® with SmartAssist® heart pump to support his heart during the procedure. This decision proved crucial when the first cleared artery reclosed, and Karunakar's blood pressure relied entirely on the Impella device. Fortunately, we successfully cleared all the blockages, and the Impella was removed a few hours later.
Today, Karunakar enjoys his morning walks, gardening, and precious moments with his family. Madhavi beautifully summed up their gratitude, saying, "Impella has saved her husband’s life and my life also."
This story is a testament to the life-saving impact of advanced medical technology and the importance of timely medical intervention.

It's a very nice experience getting relived from pain that we came with. Got help all-round for my uncle. My uncle came with Lungs infection H1n1 phoneomantic issue and heart issue. Addrssed within 48 hours got him into normal state. Stent happened within no time with that software. with a Wonderful doctor and team. Never had such a beautiful experience in today's multi specialty hospitals that I so far visited.
