Lidström is BY FAR better than Orr. Orr was a 4th forward. Lidström was a complete two way defender that was dominant in every aspect of defense. The competition was so much better in Lidströms day than Bobby orr ever faced. That alone ends all debate. Lidström is by far the best ever

It's not even a comparison, trying to compare someone to Orr is like trying to compare someone to Gretzky. Orr redefined the position, tough as nails and yes, he could play defense. Oh and if you needed to kill a penalty, just give Bobby the puck and watch him skate circles around everyone for 2minutes. I know all of this just from seeing reruns, never saw him play, but go listen to all the guys he played against (especially the habs) and see what they say. I loved the Wings during the time of Stevie Wonder and Lidstrom but Orr is just on a level by himself. My personal opinion.

The Habs will finally have that franchise generational talent centerman they have been waiting decades for.

Great stuff! It's so, so hard to gauge from Q and OHL numbers. It's more about the tape, and their psychologies. Guys like Andrew Cassels and Rob Schremp ripped up the OHL, but didn't really translate. David Desharnais, undrafted, put up two 100pts seasons with the Sagueneens. But, Byfield has the size of a Staal brother with more mobility in traffic, which makes him look like Geno on those sheets of ice with no real D. Lafreniere is the real deal, with generational centre vision. Jagr and Selanne were wingers. I don't recall anyone giving them an asterisk. OV has more goals than Messier, Stevie Y and Mario. He won't have an asterisk either. But, Gretzky could have had 1,200 goals had he wanted to. He put up those quasi-900 goals as his own last option. Imagine that.

He was a good to very good player for a very long time. Does that make him great? His first 7 years he was basically a disappointment. I remember that. Then he had a few very good seasons, then a bunch of average seasons. If he retired after 1000-1100 games no one would be calling him a HOF'er. What did he do in his last 600+ games to be great?

I'm sure he'll be in Waterloo this year. It'll be fun to watch him develope. It'll be my 3rd year as a season ticket holder.

It's a nice story. Rooting for the kid he's got skills no doubt but really wished he came over to play this year would be better for his development compared to playing against weaker competition in Japan. I'd be really surprised if he gets drafted in the NHL.

I think Raty is a bit overrated. Compared to previous 1st overall picks, he doesn't stack up. I think he has a very high floor, but not huge upside. Likely to be a very good 2C in the NHL. I just don't think he has the offensive upside to be a true 1C. Either way, he would have a hard time cracking the top 5 in the 2022 draft. 2021 seems to be a weak draft.

lets think about this logically. He is an RFA not a UFA. Nothing and I mean nothing shows me that an offer sheet will result in him being moved. There is no indication he is unhappy on the Island. Lou has answered this question saying the islanders will match any offer. This is not the same old Islanders. Not even close! they got the new building,Sorokin is inbound and they have offered two massive contracts in back to back summers. Barzal wants to win!!! Period end of discussion. He is in a system that is making him a better player all around and you can tell by the way he plays he is indeed happy with his present team. When was the last time you saw a team successfully offer sheet a player of his caliber? Its been a very long time. The Islanders will 100% sign him to either a bridge that keeps his rights on the Island or to a massive 8YR deal. Every year you guys pull this offer sheet non sense and every year it falls on its face. Barzal will be on the Island for years to come

I don't think Tuukka Rask is going anywhere soon. Sports reporters are very famous for creating Spin and stories out of athletes, especially who's first language is not English. there's nothing going on in the World of Sports and they've got to create something to make the paycheck ESPN made millions of dollars off of a fake deflategate story. And it seems out of character knowing the Bruins staff, for one player to come out and discuss their retirement in public without talking to the team first It's difficult to gauge best goalies over Decades of hockey. Tuukka Rask has had the benefit of seriously reliable second string goalies - last season he played about 60% of the regular season games- I think he'll go down as the best Bruins goalie - but how many other Bruins goalies had someone like Chara? No two teams are ever going to be alike - certainly by statistics & numbers, Tuukka Rask rules. when they reduced the width of the goaltender pads right in the middle of his career, he seemed to keep up great But it's interesting how people forget the first few years of tukas career - he would play 58 solid minutes of hockey - and then for 2 minutes he was gone and that's how we were losing the boy had quite a temper 😯 I doubt Tuukka Rask is going anywhere soon, and yes - he will probably go down as one of the best goalies in Bruins history - but we're not done going after that playoff cup... seems the NHL is taking a look at July and August for available Arenas and has consulted NBC regarding TV time that was lost to the Olympics cancellation so we'll see how Rask likes to play hockey in July

Let me ask this one simple question: Who would you rather on your team? Someone who gives you 20 unbelievable seasons or 12? I don't think you can compare their careers...I'd take Lidstrom hands down - in any era...

he better wait till after this season, i still have him in many leagues...😉
