DW has saved my life and inspired me unlike any TV show in my life, I was 7 years old when this first aired and I remember my mum and dad were so excited for this, I didn't fully understand why but the BBC 1 adverts for DW at the time fascinated me so I wanted to know more! Not realizing I was giving my parents the perfect chance to introduce me to their childhood! The moment the program began and that vortex appeared and those heavenly Derbyshire throwback opening beats hit me I remember as a child being amazed! This entire opening is just magical! A truly beautiful fairy tale told through Sci-Fi, I had no idea what was happening I didn't know why this police box was here in this magical tunnel of colour and lights but I wanted to know more! And I remember both my mum and dad had the biggest smiles on their face to this day they always told me they were smiling brightly because they knew, they knew RTD had proven all the assholes of pre New Who wrong, DW still had life in it, this entire opening is a fuck you to all who like Grade doubted the show's impact and culture! Winning all it's arguments in one fowl swoop of the first 30 seconds of a program! WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW! DO NOT EVER SKIP 9! <3

The BBC also broadcasted their promo spots in the wrong order. There was meant to be a shot of the TARDIS fading in and out as fire hurtled towards it as the announcer said 'Christopher Eccleston is the new Dr Who', but this was broadcast as soon as Strictly ended, and so the announcement was made over one of the BBC's generic pre-show ads/promos, as seen here. You can find video of this quite easily on CZcams. Combined with the Norton incident, the show really couldn't catch a break haha
