1936 Ford Restoration Part 10 - DIY Running Board Covers

These honestly turned out much better than I expected and the cost was substantially less than the "correct" cover replacement. You can do these covers for the simple investment of about $15 in the vinyl material. I already had the glue and chose to add the aluminum strip as an accent as well as a way to ensure that the vinyl didn't lift off of the edge. 2023 Prices sit at: $15 - Vinyl Runner (...

1936 Ford Restoration Part 8 - Setting the Body on the Chassis

Nothing like a one man show to get this job done but it wasn't too bad, even in my crippled state! Overall it went pretty smoothly, just a little cutting for the shifter and it was in place. Next up is some rust repair and then on with the fenders and running boards.

    Some great tips there. I'm about to do a Model A 4 door roof. I'm thinking of making a frame up and stretch the vinyl, like a trampoline. Then I can put sealant around the roof and lower the pre-stretched vinyl on. Still deciding whether to nail it on like original, or glue it with seam sealer.

    i really want to do something like this, BUT... i want to stretch it out and make it a 4 door to resemble a "suburban" and have a rear door or barn doors. at one time i had 2 1933 chevy trucks. i was wanting to put them together to make a crew cab, but ran into money issues so i sold them, and everything else i owned at the time, and lived in my pickup truck.

    What filter did you use?

  • @paramaniacwolverine843
    @paramaniacwolverine843 Před 8 měsíci

    I built a similar filter for a UVO project I had, except I took a length of fine copper mesh and rolled it up tight and fitted it into the suction tube. This gives it far more surface area, like the folds in an air filter and oil filter. Therefore allowing it to run a lot longer before clogging up. I have a 1985 Mitsubishi Pajero with 2.5 diesel engine. The engine has been rebuilt but not well cleaned in the water system so I'm having rust going back to the newly re-cored radiator. I also don't want to spend a stupid amount of money on an inline filter, so your video has given me inspiration to do a similar set up.

    I like the way you did these wood cribs looks very nice and professional, only things I didn't like is that you used 2x4''s I would've gone thicker like 4x6 or 4x8, also would've made them a bit longer to accommodate different size wheels 🛞 and adjustable locking wood tire chocks or could always use thick pieces of rubber

    I've always liked the way flathead V8s look. And even though they don't breathe like an overhead valve engine, less valve train parts appeals to my "keep it simple" philosophy. Flatheads sound cool too!😎

    • @jonathanwood1984
      @jonathanwood1984 Před 10 měsíci

      the name comes from the style of head used on the engine. It was actually a very common design on straight 6, 8 and even larger engines of the time period. The valves are housed within the block and the heads themselves only contain the composition chamber and cooling passages.
