Milk crates, several. You can often find them free or super cheap. They will keep the cans upright during transit and they make for easier carrying and fewer trips once you get home.

Exactly. That's what I was told when I said I wanted to paint my house purple - "that might make it harder to sell later". Why would I worry about what some hypothetical future person might want when I'm the one living in it right now? I'll be damned if I'll contribute to the blandification of the world while I have any way of adding colour.
