    Thankyou very much for this information, fellow gardner. I do have a query, I had to uproot and replace my potted rosemary which had root-rot due to heavy rains, would you happen to know how long does the garden variety species take to recover??

    Thank you so much. Due to neglect mine has sprawled out very widely with a few leggy, woody stems. Now at least I have an idea on how to rejuvenate it once it has finished flowering. Spring in another 3 weeks so I’ll sharpen my shears. Mine is the Tuscan Blue variety. I don’t have a dehydrator so would it be okay to dry extra leaves in an oven?

    okay but i need to cut the entire bush because it's overgrown so i need to more than tip prune. i need to take off entire 'branches'.

      @susanlisson7066 Před 19 dny

      I’ve got the same problem but my best bet would be to find the central area of the bush that you want to keep, then cut the really leggy parts right back down or off until you see a roundish or oval shape developing from the central area, then prune that back by 1/4 as she mentioned. You need to make sure to only prune it into the greener wood because the harder, browner wood won’t regrow as quickly if at all. Best of luck.

    One aspect you didn't cover: When I first started planting natives, there were quite a few small bird species present. I've created a garden that is now the property of a large gang of Noisy Miners who actively drive off all other species, and are - well, noisy. I'm working filling out the mid- and lower story with plants that might discourage Noisy Miners and give cover for smaller, more likeable birds. Yes, also hate your music. Waiting on hold music from hell.

    I have become friends with the local ww's since I moved here 6 months ago (rockingham,Perth). I'm naughty, I like to feed them meal worms. they are extremely vocal and brave - so I love them. I didn't have any live worms today, so I tried to feed them some dried ones - they stuck their noses up, lol. cutest little things in the world. love hearing them sing in the mornings.

    I had 2 overgrown japonicas that I recently pruned back 30% Because they had many internal cross branches , Some diseased leaves and were too tall and too dense. The issue is that a large shade tree that I now realize was protecting them had to be taken down in April And now the japonicas are getting beaten in the afternoon by the harsh north central Florida sun . We are also in a drought and I started watering them in the early morning to hydrate until it starts raining again. Just noticed this morning the leaves aren't that dark green anymore and a few of the leaves are literally burned. In the past, about 6 years ago in the spring after flowering i did a really hard prune. About 60% of plant removed to mostly branches and very few leaves. they recovered nicely after a prolonged period of shock i suppose and came back super full. These are well established plants that have been on the property probably 30 years. I left more leaves on this time.Mainly.Because I realized it was kind of late to be pruning the japonicas. I have learned that japonicas really don't like the harsh sun that these sansaqua can tolerate. They are north facing plants but get plenty of shade in the morning from the forest behind the house. It's mainly the afternoon sun and the fact that I pruned sort of late that i'm concerned about. I have not fertilized though I was considering giving them a small amount of 10 10 10 Or some liquid miracle gro for acid loving plants. Any suggestions ?

    I have a lot of weeds after the council put in a footpath in front of my house, the new grass they laid died in a week then weeds replaced it, there is some tuff there with needles so sharp its worse then binidi and the have some nerve system that they close up with touched, then there is also some grass that grows in a bunch that the mower cant cut without stalling the edger struggles to cut through, and other weeds that grow to many feet tall in a short time. I did not see anything I have in your video, so I guess there is a much bigger range of weeds or problem grasses.
