Singer 201-2 Oiling
I was showing a new owner where to oil her, new to her, Singer 201-2. Sometimes the image is blurry and sometimes shaky. Sorry about that.

Singer 201-2 Stitches
zhlédnutí 133Před 6 měsíci
I used a brown bobbin thread and a white top thread to show that the balance of the tension is perfect. A good test is to use a small screwdriver to wipe across the stitch to see if it is loose. If it were too tight on either side it would show the opposite thread, and if both upper and lower tensions were too tight it would buckle the fabric. This was sewn on Stretch Denim. Very difficult to s...

Singer 201-2 Sewing after refurbishing it at Sew Restored in Streamwood, IL. Sews great and sounds great too. I check the stitches at the end, but I have a different video showing a more close up version than in this video showing that.

This shows a Singer 201-2 after it was refurbished at Sew Restored in Streamwood, IL. The paint finish is not the best but it is not horrible either. It does run and sew like it was new though. Fantastic machines.
When you know that you need to clean the feed dog drive on your Singer 27
zhlédnutí 79Před 10 měsíci
This is a pretty clear indication that the machine is gummed up pretty much everywhere. It needed to be removed and thoroughly cleaned. The Sew Restored Shop is more through than most shops. Ok, almost all shops. This was taken apart, cleaned, adjusted to factory specs, and put back in the machine. Most of the internal parts on this machine were taken apart and cleaned as well. The main shuttle...

Friction Drive Wheel Resurfacing-Running Smooth
zhlédnutí 86Před 10 měsíci
If you have a friction drive wheel for your machine and it has a flat spot on it and can be resurfaced, it is important to know that you need to put it on the motor it is to be on, to do this. Otherwise it may not run smooth and true. Use a Dremel with a sanding drum on it and run the motor and the Dremel, at the same time, at a slight angle to each other (see pic) to get it smooth, true, and s...
Western Electric Swing Away Sewing Machine Motor Running After Restoration Patented May 22, 1917.

First test run and break in of a freshly restored Western Electric Swing Away Sewing Machine Motor that was patented May 22, 1917. This motor had just started for the first time since being rebuilt when the video starts. I run motors for two minutes to seat in the brushes. After two minutes I checked for excessive heat in the bearing areas. There was none. You can see the carbon starting to bui...
A simple solution to a noisy Featherweight.

If your Featherweight does not have a spool pin spring, you can try this to quiet down the noise the spool makes while sewing. Put 4 toothpicks, or as many that will fit inside of the spool hole without binding it. It is that easy.

Nelco R-2000 Doing Diamond Stitches
zhlédnutí 188Před rokem
I make no secret that my favorite machine is my Nelco R-2000. A favorite for many reasons, but the last time I serviced this machine was about 10 years ago. I can pull it out and it will sew like this after many months to a year of not being used. (I don't sew much) And I just love the sound this machine makes! ~Sew Restored~
Singer 128 Running After Restoration

Personally, I would rate this machine very high on all marks. It looks beautiful, winds a perfect bobbin, and the stitches are second to none, either long or short. It has been cleaned, polished back to like new, rewired and is ready for another 101 years. Having a beautiful sound when it sews is a wonderful bonus. ~Sew Restored~
